A retired Italian man could face up to a year and a half in prison if found guilty of killing his six pet hamsters and one guinea-pig by throwing them off his terrace into passing traffic.
The man, detained by police after the guinea-pig crashed into the windscreen of a car, told officials that he had accidentally knocked the animals off his terrace while sweeping, AGI news agency reported on Thursday.

I used to have a thing for snakes.

had some big Boas, i used to go to the pet store and buy live pinky mice once a week and feed them ALIVE TO THEM.

so, i can toss a mouse in a cage with a snake and watc h it prey on him, bite it on the head and devour it slowly, but you cant chuck a hamster into the street?

A snake needs to eat to survive regardless if the food is live or not, it's a totally seperate issue when your simply throwing animals into oncoming traffic for the amusement.

While it amusing to watch snakes feed on prey (whether it be live or not), it's still essential to the snake's survival to eat.

Oh come on bro killing animals for fun and killing them as food are two different things IMO.

hamsters are protected by law and mice are not.

That's because hamsters are funnier when they are in their wheels.

folks the difference is ONLY, mice are not considered pets, hamsters and guinea pigs ARE.

i knew a guy that used to feed him snake white zoo ducks and baby pigs.

Why? Why is it ok to keep an animal for fun which requires the deaths of hundreds of other animals to live, while it's not ok to kill just a few animals simply for fun?

Or let's look at the issue of humans eating meat. Humans don't need to eat meat, they can live perfectly well without it, which is in fact thought to be healtheir.

The only reason people eat meat is because they enjoy it. So killing animals for enjoyment is ok, but killing them for amusement is wrong?

I rarely disagree with you, but I do here. It was the way he killed them, throwing mice from his balcony probably would have got him in the same trouble.

Some guy in AU recently got arrested and fined for biting the tail off of a mouse in a bar game.

He should have just gave them to a pet store. :(

i am all for animals, i have pets myself.

i see no difference between throwing a mouse into a snakes mouth vs throwing them into the street and running them over.

in fact, you can kill a mouse any day of the week in your home and not get into trouble.

are you saying if I catch a mouse in a mouse trap and fling it into the street i should be jailed?

unless trained otherwise YOU HAVE TO FEED THEM LIVE MICE, or hamsters.

i used to treat my snakes to hamsters once a month hahaha

the snake will target the mouse' head, and bam tag it, and it will slowly squeeze it to death.

then take about 1 hour to dislocate its own jaws and swallow the mouse.

getting run over by a car is a far better way to die than being bitten and strangled by a snake to where he crushes every bone in their body AFTER squeezing out every breath.

i eventually had to get rid of my snakes because feeding it became some psychological torment for me.

i couldn't take hearing the mice scream all the time.

trust me, ran over by a car is better than eaten by snake.

We had a snake in Montreal that liked to escape every once in a while.

He'd hide in the laundry, the sheets, the closets.............

One day my bro was over looking for it with me. He reached into the closet and got a bite of his life.

The snake went off of my 21st story balcony soon after.
