Outsourcers, something to be affraid of?
I am seeing a lot of OS companies lately running around, spamming their shit and stuff, but has anybody any real good experiences with any of them? As I had my 3rd client in the last 2 weeks who came to me after an OS company fucked up.
I am still having enough work to make a decent living though, just something I was wondering ;) Should we designers be affraid with the increase of outsourcing companies lately? Should I go to india and get my own little $5/hour guy? Or is it just something wich will go by and is it just a matter of time? Discuss. |
I had a great experience with xxxoutsourcing.com and so did a friend of mine. I've also been told by many people that outsourced programmers rock.
|
I have an outsourced employee in the Philipenes and he is awesome!
Costs me about $4.50 (usd) an hour and he kicks ass. :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup |
QuaShe - while we are definitely not designers (in fact we find stick figures challenging) I can tell you from our experience that these outsourcing places are definitely not our competition.
In fact they are quite the opposite and are probably our best referrers. Like you, we have had numerous people come to us for all types of written work after the Asian outsourcers have produced low quality work. It seems that paying them to do your work is a waste of money regardless of how cheap they might seem. And more and more webmasters are realising that. In the last couple of weeks we have been stunned by the amount of work that people have given us to do. |
I have had very good experiences with outsourcing many different projects.:2 cents:
|
It depends on the company. Webmasterlabor.com is good in my opinion. I don't recommend freelancers from Asia. I tried over 10 and it was a huge waste of time. Generally, people work better when they have actual contact with their boss.
|
i have a fucking armada in romania and russia.
:thumbsup |
It depends what you want done
Outsourcing can work, but going with the cheapest guy isn't always the answer....you also have to be very specific what you want....even when I was designing full time, I had clients who had no fucking clue what they wanted...some kid in India or the Philippines is going to have an even more difficult time... too often people only want the cheapest guy and forget that sometimes spending a little more money can improve things quite a bit... |
the old adage "you get what you pay for" will always apply...
nothing wrong with outsourcing grunt work that nobody wants to do... like data entry, or OCR, but there is a reason professional programmers make what they do. In the end it will fare as everything does, each side of the coin will have it's market share...some ppl buy generic...others refuse to accept what "might" work. :2 cents: |
But do they have someone on top who actually know this biz a bit and have some type of experiene?
|
When it comes to design, the outsource companies I have seen are so bad it boggles my mind. I don't see them as competition at all 'cause anyone who would pay for the work they do is obviously looking for the cheapest design no matter what the result.
I can't speak for other things like programming or grunt work, but I think even skilled programmers would really have trouble due to the language barrier. It's hard enough to get your ideas across to someone who fully understands English. I'm an independant designer and I approved this post :winkwink: |

you can get 8 workers for that |
We've used AOS and some work is ok while other work is quite good. I'd say overall it's worth the money. You're not going to get the most amazing work you've ever seen, but the difference in cost definitely makes it worth it for your non-critical jobs.

Just a repost from your recent thread in other board. And my answer on your question... there aint no reason for you to get afraid on us... "OUTSOURCING COMPANY", like you, we are also looking for biz and that's all. |
Quote:
well I beg your pardon, you can correct me if I am wrong, but as far as "I KNOW" AOS has been there already before your xxx came up. :Graucho Well i am just here to stand up for the company i am working with, and both of us are looking for some biz aite? And with regards on the free week trial, we really offer that so called "free week trial" for them to be able to evaluate the skills of their staff. |

I can assure you this .. he did the same to several others already. He likes to jump on the bashing bandwagon, because he thinks it makes him look cool, but for the ones keeping score, he looks nothing but FOOL :winkwink: |
I have had no hands on experience with outsource companies as of yet, as I have a network of local (US/Canada) people who all do very decent work for me at prices I am very content with, but that is not to say I would never try an outsource company.
Like anything else in this world, it is a matter of caveat emptor :2 cents: |
Outsource can be good or bad ... you CANNOT expect an outsourced guy to do the same job as a 50k a year designer would do . But for basic work it's kickass
|
thing is that outsourcing companies grow into design companies
people are learning how to design quiting companies and creating their own biz |

really now?! :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh honey, that's one nice piece of enlightenment :winkwink: thank you :thumbsup therefore....IGNORE THE FOOL :Graucho |

as far as outsourcing competition is concerned, we at AOS has exercise professional conduct and we do accept healthy rivalry, but if it goes beyond destroying one's reputation, i don't find this funny at all. with regards with the free trial thing, how much longer you will use such reasoning just to destroy us? its just a way of making our clients interact with our staffs and learn more of skills/weaknesses, to make them comfortable on how an outsourcing company (in Asia) handles such complicated design works. you very well know how that Adult Industry is afraid to jump in the outsourcing bandwagon for such fear on English literacy skills and experience/qualified individuals for the job especially with Asian people. if you collect upfront payment, we make sure that the client is pleased for the work of the staff and avoid having a refund if in case he decides to cancel the service in just a few days work and how can you achieve such goal? Give them a Free Week test trial. This is the main reason we give a promo service, to make the client interact actively with our staff and learn more of what they want to be achieved. we never asked any of our client to train our staff, in fact, we have our own supervisors in every shift to make sure that their staff is monitored properly. if the client themselves want to train our staff, then we don't insists on such request since every individual has its own taste when it comes to design quality and quantity, BUT this is not our SOP. as much as possible, we don't obliged nor require any of our client to train our own people. also, we certainly don't deploy a Neophyte. We have a rigorous process of training of our people before they can actually be entitled to a slot. I guess you can prove this with our staffs who has previously worked for you. :) if you have any issues with the owner, then go direct with him. your issues with him does not concern any of AOS clients, so stop being a cry baby. |
I wish I will always have a job in this industry !
