Some things never seem to get boring though, and this topic is one of them.

Error: Advertising is getting more and more agressive every day. I don't think that's good. You're using a sponsor that is throwing people through a loop of pop-up consoles when they try to click out of a banner.

Actually, no, I'm not promoting any such sponsors like that on this gallery. However, the freehost is, in their header.

People will soon stop clicking banners completely when every time they click a banner they have to go through console-hell and back. Done! Great topic man, I hope you got and are enjoying a nice DVD player from the Lensmeister. Mr Hun, you need not explain your reasoning to me, I agree with much of what you have been saying over the last few years, and I can see the foresight and soundness of your reasoning.

There is a quick and easy solution. Many of these advertisers have half- or full page adds. Download those adds and put them on a server. From your gallery, don't link directly to the sponsor, but link to the full page ad on your server. That page of course shouldn't have any exit consoles or blind links. If people don't want it, they can click back. If people do want it they can click on. I'm still not happy with the loop of exit-consoles they end up in then, but at least users received more than enough warning they're entering a paysite.

Actually, this isn't a bad idea, except that in this particular case it's not me using those sponsors. WAAAAAA!!!

Some of these pop up consoles with blind dialer adds (thumbs that indicate there's movies, but that link to a 5+ dollar dialer). This also will not be accepted.

Again, I can see the need to say this for some that just don't seem to get it. I, however, am not one of them. I fucking hate dialers, I hate the whole concept of dialers. If there was a way to force idiot webmasters to use them less intrusively then I would tolerate them a little more, but when people are auto-downloading their dialer program to my desktop I take MAJOR issue.

Rrrred, you listening here? I can get around this problem, like the hun says, by setting up an FPA between my galleries and your program (join4free), but I hardly think the freehosts are going to do likewise.

Ya, some people are stupid too. Plain and simple. Hey, I make the policy decisions for all of MY sites, I see no reason why you shouldn't be doing the same for yours Mr Hun. I would expect no less from anyone that is successful. (at anything), I really don't see why anyone is challenging this. It's the "my site is MY site" rule, so what's the problem?

Let me assure you that I do not try to tell anybody how to run their business. I only decide what happens on my end. I get many submission. Too many to list. So I list the ones that best fit the profile I'm looking for in a gallery. At the moment that means I can decline galleries with advertisers that in my eyes are the cause of the dropping of signups. The adult Internet is getting a bad name with this agressive advertising. I want to make sure not to be part of that.

Well, I hope some of those sponsors will try and work with you (and by proxy, also the thousands of webmasters like myself that like to submit to you in hopes of sending signups to those sponsors) and get this straigtened out soon. What the hell can I do in the meantime? Should I contact that freehost I just joined and see if they're interested in setting up some FPA's for their sponsors?? Think they'll go for it?

after getting something like that my next action is to contact the host, and using an alternative host until the matter is sorted ( if ever ). I've been banned sooooo many times for what the host is doing, and there's a lot of dipstick tgp owners out there that refuse to discuss their decisions it stopped getting funny a long time ago.

funny thing:

I was shopping around for a free host not so long ago, and seen quite a few pimpserver galleries on the hun, so I says to myself, why not use pimpserver, if it's accepted by the hun, it's probally pretty good.

So I signup and make a few galleries, today I try and submit to the hun, and it tells me that pimpserver has been banned! http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/eek.gif arrruuuggghhhh.

Anyhow, yes we were banned from Thehun BUT if you take a peek into the webmaster section under "view your sites" you will see a new warning.html linkcode that is console free. This was put in place due to so many webmasters who count on traffic from thehun or sites with similar criteria. TheHun has stated that all he requires is some sort of ad page so we just did this for you. Although, I have never received a reply from him when I emailed to point this out, I hope that he will allow traffic to these new pages. Hope this helps. It might be a good idea to email the free hosts you use and make them aware of this. It's been in effect only a short time http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif

I will clean up my header now....all the free host masters are critisizing me...anyways...I would like to ask everyone a question...I can make my ads smaller then any host out there if only I'd be allowed to make an apache add on that places ads on top of pictures ....will my free host get banned from all tgps for that?

Westin, some of my sites ARE on paid hosts. Contrary to popular belief, paid hosts only bring on a whole other world of headaches... hotlinking worries, bandwidth bills that can potentially skyrocket, and much more. (Actually, the ONLY reason I didn't go with LF or girlshost is the 50k file size limit, this time. This particular site has some submitted pics from models, and those pics are bigger than 50k and if I were to compress them further they'd look even shittier than they already do)

Julian -- I'm glad I got your attention, thanks for taking the time to respond. Two thing... It would be awesome if you could fix up the sponsor problem (and even more so if you were to contact himself-the-hun and see about getting removed from the list), and also... by cleaning up the headers do you mean making them sleeker and more streamlined? I don't know about your "ads on top of pictures" idea, I'd have to see it to make a judgement on that. What I do know is that I have some design ideas for freehost headers that I'm thinking of creating as samples.

Btw, has anyone seen the sexshare and majorhost headers lately?? Julian's elitecities headers are TINY compared to some of those, and what's with their 'expandable links'???? That is totally butt-ugly, and when you mouse-over their text links they snap to huge proportions. Does that get more clicks?? I fucking doubt it.

Rrred... I'm pretty sure I reply to all important e-mail ESPECIALLY if it's concerning a free host. I know many people depend on free hosts and I'm very happy with hosts that want to work together on solutions to keep both parties happy

But, with this thread, I'd like to make it clear that any free hosts that are using Join4free in their headers and footers are urged to use our warning page rather than straight to the site if they are having problems getting listed with you or others that have this rule in place.

Actually, I did submit a few galleries on paid hosting recently as a test. They both got a cool quarter million hits per day for a short while, but the bandwidth bills ate up a good chunk of my profits. I am willing to give up a few signups to a freehost if it means I can keep what's left, which to me is the better deal. Thoughts?

Actually, the few times I've bothered you with any of my emails, you have replied very promptly....which really surprised the hell out of me considering the amount of work you seem to be faced with each day. If I tried to answer all my emails plus update my sites plus make new graphix for others plus design new pages plus do photoshoots I'd never get any sleep...ever. I've had galleries get over 200K raw and the bandwidth bills can to less than 1 $40.00 signup ;-)

Actually, if I get 4 or 5 signups, then really not much has changed except that the money is all mine, and none of it goes to bandwidth. I can't say for certain that I got ALL the signups and the freehost got none, but I don't even think about that. Fact is, I usually do about the same either way, except one is free, the other is not.

You get the same # of sign-ups from a freehost as you do paid hosting? WOW. I don't, mainly cuz it alot harder to get listed using a freehost I find (yes, ever if you use a nice one like lightning or smutserver) but perhaps that's just my personal experience.
