Favorite Alice Cooper songs

... assuming you have any.

I think they all rock, growing up in the motor city.

School's Out - they always played that over the intercom on the last day of class.
I'm Eighteen - Another classic.
Elected - great song.

You go back to the 80s rock scene in Detroit? Do you remember a local band called Bitter Sweet Alley? Early-mid 80s, east side clubs primarily (e.g., September's, Harpo's)

mardigras 08-17-2004 11:45 PM

My all time favorite Alice Cooper was the long form video he made with Vincent Price, "Alice Cooper: The Nightmare" which was a "dream sequence" visualizing out all the songs from the album. I've been trying to find a replacement copy of that for a while now (not to be confused with the video "Welcome to My Nightmare", which is a concert film).

Besides the title track (Welcome to my Nightmare), high points of the film for me were:
Black Widow
Cold Ethel
Years Ago/Steven
Department of Youth

Oh and if I had to pick a song not related to that video as a favorite, it would probably have to be "No More Mr. Nice Guy "... I've grabbed that as a theme song a few well needed times in my life, very inspirational:thumbsup

SykkBoy 08-18-2004 12:07 AM

No More Mr. Niceguy
School's Out
Roses On White Lace
Teenage Frankenstein
Billion Dollar Babies

Cooper liked to 'scare' in his shows. Ironically, nothing was scarier than when Pat Boone covered 'No More Mr. Nice Guy!' Now THAT was SCARY.

phogirl69 08-18-2004 12:23 AM

Poison... Try downloading Groove Coverage- Poison

It's a dance/techno remake of the song.

Grew up in Detroit. I remember the name Bitter Sweet Alley, but not the tunes. Remember Harpos too. :thumbsup

Goatse 08-18-2004 05:17 PM

Alice's act was awesome. Too bad that ugly geek Manson stole it and actually took it seriously. Then again, he's making millions out of high school losers and outcasts...

Tala 08-18-2004 05:21 PM

Hey Stoopid is a good one
Also Poison, School's Out, No More Mr. Nice Guy

But I think my favorite is Feed My Frankenstein. I have no idea why though. :(

yeah, I liked the whole "Raise Your Fist And Yell" album, but it seems to be forgotten by all but the most hardcore Cooper fans...

a lot of good tunes on that one...the songs I mentioned but also "Give The Radio Back" and "Chop Chop Chop"

I sing part of the song "Gail" to my kids:
"The dog digs up a bone and wags his tail...I wonder how the dog remembers...Gail"

Explicit 08-18-2004 05:32 PM

Hey Stoopid

SykkBoy 08-18-2004 05:41 PM

an Alice Cooper memory:
I was working as a chef at the Coyote Cafe inside the MGM Grand and Alice Cooper came in with his mother, father and manager. He was wearing a black leather jacket, black pants, etc.

He was obviously having a business meeting, but kindly obliged fans with a couple autographs but you could tell he was getting a little irritated when his food came out and he couldn't have a few minutes to himself to eat.

So he left and was gone for quite awhile...I figued he was pissed and just left, leaving his parents and manager there..he came bak with a sweater, blue jeans and a ball cap and no one recognized him.

Afterwards, he was really nice and we had an "open kitchen" policy (anyone could tour the kitchen just by asking) so asked for a tour of the kitchen and was great, signing autographs for everyone in the kitchen and taking time to chat.

He became a frequent customer of ours the rest of the week and even came back often whenever he was in town, but never wore the jacket again, always a sweater and ballcap...

It was also weird overhearing parts of their conversation and his mother calling him Vincent (his real first name)

Trafficbrokercom 08-18-2004 06:04 PM

my favorite one is

"Might As Well Be On Mars"

candyflip 08-18-2004 06:07 PM

Jesus loves Alice Cooper. He told me so.

RRACY 08-18-2004 06:59 PM

Ballad of Dwight Fry

I grabbed my hat and i got my coat
and i, i ran into the street
I saw a man that was choking there
I guess he couldn't breathe
Said to myself this is very strange
I'm glad it wasn't me
But now I hear those sirens callin'
and so i am not free

It don't get much better.:glugglug
