FUCKloads of traffic. I was hit by one of those hotlinkers on a 100mbit servermatrix box :( Was kinda harsh.

yea theres dozens of the sites the script is free i think the one thing they all seem to have in common is the word "fusker" in the url o if you lock that out of referers you could save a lot of bandwidth

A long time ago, someone contracted me to write a program like that that did almost the same thing as fusker.

I didn't know what he was going to do with it, only the specifications of his needs.

I started to code it and was almost done when he revealed his plan to do what fusker does.... I deleted the code.

forgetting to lock your door is comparable to not placing a .htaccess code in your gallery banning fusker related domains.. How do they compare? Its a fucking legitimate mistake!! Many webmasters never really had to deal with bandwidth robbers the size of Fusker and never tought necessary to learn about .htaccess .. Once you see in your stats that you have 500k to a gallery listed on Fusker..its too late and modifying that gallery might get you banned on many TGPs that were listing you... Sure you'll protect your galleries from now on.. but the damage is done...

Sounds like you're crying about incompetence. Forgetting to use an .htaccess file to block hotlinking is incompetent...period. If you are incompetent, you'll pay for it. That's the way it works in the real world.

If you are not competent enough to perform basic webmaster duties (like uploading an .htaccess file) then you should pay someone who IS competent.
