And what's the different in term of the law? plus doesn't Google have a cache (host a backup) of every page on the net!

I guess so... alot of times the page is dead but the thumb is still up.

They definitely cache the images. The thumbnail will show, even on a result that is now a 404.

A judge isn't going to know or care what hotlinking is. If he can see a hardcore thumb in Google's results then he'll consider that Google are presenting that content.

Google already breaks the law, with the current images of beast etc.. so why should they worry? They're obviously above the law..

I guess there two laws in the USA! One for the Multi-Billion dollar corporations and indiviuals that can pretty much get away with murder, and another for the others....

Exacly. All those super-computers they got all over the place must doing more than just crawling, indexing and running algo!

Well the DOJ could go after them just to scare off others and force them to comply with 2257:)
