Google Indexing

Any idea how long it takes for your page to be indexed by google, and how do you tell if it has been?

jacked 08-15-2004 09:25 PM

only time will tell with google get the google toolbar or type your domain into google shits updated ever few weeks i think

chowda 08-15-2004 09:29 PM

good question, i built links on mine and saw results.. but no pr on it yet.

hmmmm

PR has not updated for quite a while now, I wonder if they're gonna remove it or so ...
About indexing, I guess it depends on what PR site the link is displayed, probably a higher pr page is visited more often by the spider, and chances are your page gets indexed faster.
You can see a URL is indexed or not, by introducing the URL at Search, hit Enter and see if it displays it or not.

I just put a site online 2 days ago and its already indexed under its URL in google, although not extensively its a good start. Im by NO MEANS any kind of expert of any sort on SE. not at all. I just get lucky sometimes I suppose.

I think my TGPs at sunnydollars might have helped a little though. they have been built for a few weeks with my domain name in the keywords.

If you have a Pr7 site and use it to link to your new site, it can get listed in 36 hours :Graucho

lol

You can check the cache of any page at google, just go to google and do an advanced search.

They are constantly indexing pages and making caches of pages. Most of my sites get cached and indexed everyday but this DOES NOT mean you will be shown in SERPs.

If you want to be indexed fast, dont bother submitting. Build incoming links from respected sites and shit will happen faster then you suspect.

ps VeriSexi The majority of my PR4s will get a link indexed in that time span as well.

I add a link to my PR5 site and new domains are almost always indexed with 24 hours. I think having a PR5+ is more valuable to just get new domains indexed quickly than any extra traffic a higher PR will get you.

Yes everyone says PR means nothing but that is far from the truth. TO ME the most important and valueble part of having a good PR is how often the site gets indexed.

Bottom line...if you update your content everyday and keep it relevant, you will be indexed atleast once a day. And the spider will follow your links. More links pointing to the new pages, obviously the better the results.

This is very true, i got my sites indexed at first by having some links to my site on a friend's high PR site, my index was pretty fast and i have been working with it from there.

marttali 08-16-2004 01:41 AM

yep, at the moment PR is good only for the speed and amount of indexing. Of course it also helps to exchange links

TheMob 08-16-2004 02:35 AM

kinkage 08-16-2004 03:48 PM

Can you only see that the googlebot has been to your site through your log files, or will a 3rd party counter show you?
