sikkittens i wanna talk about rats!

you said i can chat with you but never told me how haha

only had them a day now and already i see the inteligence they have over all other small animals ive owned.

frankly im impressed and would like to play, or stimulate them a bit to study reactions.

someone mentioned to put some frozen pea's into a bowl of water and let them go bobbing?

he said they like water, do they like to swim? I can fill the sink and let them have a last lol, or will they drown?

i also notice they love to climb, burrough and explore like crazy! How can i give them more oportunity? Any ideas?

thanks ....

Hey,

I just got in but won't be online much tonight. Contact me on ICQ when you get a chance.

Some rats like water, some don't. If they do like water, don't put them in a bowl or anything that could possibly drown them.

If it's hot and they like the water, only allow them to be in/around water when you are there.

A good idea is to go to Home Depot and buy one of those plastic pans where people pour paint and dip with a roller. Fill it half way so that the rats can walk up and down it (deep and shallow).

i am fascinated by how smart they are, and how much time they take cleaning themselves.

i always saw them as a dirty animal, but they are fucking teadious with cleaning themselves!!

p.s. Buy leaping ledges at Petsmart/Petco

DO NOT buy them rodent balls (those plastic balls that people put their animals in so they can run around the room) - those are actually bad for small animals.

Ok i didnt want to start a new thread about this, but here is a cute story ...

I have this little nest hanging in the cage that they can only get to if they climb up and into it.

I took them out to change the cage before, and while they were out i snuck a few goldfish crackers into this nest figuring this will get them in there eventually when they find it.

well now i put them in the cage and it was as if they saw me put the crackers int this nest! They have never gone near it before, but now they go right to it and immediately find these crackers!

They each take turns going into the nest and pulling out a cracker, then they take it down to their little house on the bottom level and leave it there, then they go back up for more ... continuing until they are done!

amazing! i am having so much fun lol

BTW i tried hand feeding one to my guinea pig but he had no interest in it at all lol

here is cpl of pics i took of them in the nest ....

was so cute to see them pick up the smell so fast and then hurry to grab the food and hide it.

I thought you said they stink?

NoCarrier 08-15-2004 10:41 PM

Are you tring to sublimate your dick obsession with rats? :winkwink:

pxxx 08-15-2004 10:45 PM

I have never came across someone that likes rats that much until now.

Also look into buying them "Yogies" at Petco/Petsmart. Get them the one for rats and the ones for ferrets but not the ones for rabbits. That's probably the best "treats" for rats.

Rats are good swimmers.. I wouldn;t worry about them drowning. I don't know if they actually like the water or not though.
