Ad hoc (sometimes reviewed) links. Post a link and it stays there until it's rotated off by other posts.

Some link dumps seem to be more like glorified toplists though.

How come there aren't 100s of them in your database?

Because I am not going to enter my own list that I submit to.

If dump owners want on there they can submit their sites themselves.

That way I also know that ones on that list WANT to be on there :)

What I don't understand about link dumps is why rotate links out? Why not just move them to an archive and keep them up for the SE traffic and show ads on the archive pages? After a few months you might have 1,000 pages of links. It's not like html is a big storage issue.

Not everyone gets rid of them after X number of days. Some of use keep them for infinity.

How well do linkdumps work for search engine placement?

they look a really bad idea, your attracting SE spammers, who will just spider there cloaked pages and you wont know shit.

also if no recip what do you gain from it?

bad for linkpop and no one will bookmark a site thats full of spam urls.


toplist seems a much better idea.

one more thing, how do you stop people posted other peoples urls there? i mean i saw gofcukyourself.com on there and i dont think lensman posted it

Well, what I gain from it is that my sites are hardlinked on it in the menu on the off chance some one actually clicks the links. Same for my ad's.
