My icq list shows up empty!!! Ok this is a fucking disaster! What to do? Anybody any idea?

Chill Battuss. Icq have been +++ unstable the last few days. Happened me aswell a few times but its still there..

Oh really? But my list is stored locally right? I can see a connection error being fixed after a few hours but a contact list?

So it just showed up later??

I never had this before and it totally freaks me out!

If you have the later versions (ie icq 98+ I think) its stored on the server.

Battuss, if it's ICQ you are using, go to your ICQ folder, click Contact List you should have a .cab file with all your contacts under that UIN (with a date of the last list backup) - make a copy & back it up in another folder in case your contacts don't show up in a day or two & have to reinstall ICQ.

"Click contact list" is that a file or folder youre talking about? I cant find anything with that name.

It's a folder. I've had to rebuild my database a few times in the past so I have a few ICQ folders within my ICQ folder so I don't have the exact path but it should look something like this:

Program Files/ICQ/ICQ/Contact List/within this folder you should have files that are like this: 12345678 April 22, 2003, 23 56 15 - Auto Save.clb *and I stand corrected, they aren't .cab but .clb*

If you can't find that, do a search from your start menu for *.clb it should find the backups of your contact list under each UIN.

Actually RicardoB, a few people were experiencing problems with Trillian/ICQ this weekend. Personally what I was experiencing with Trillian is that any new authorization request would show no info at all - so I couldn't know who I was authorizing, however it's back to normal today.
Trillian is much better - but you're still depending on ICQ's databases to be up & running for your ICQ part to work well through Trillian.

My trillian has been fucked.

Guys, Icq have been having troubles for 2 weeks (cheap cheap aol) - mine just started working again after 3 days (yes) downtime. Leave it and it will be sorted out eventually..

lost mine last week and was devastated. but it turned up again the next day. Thank God. So I wouldn't sweat it.

they're servers are probably fuxored for a little while give it some time you'll get it back

I found the problem. I have my list back but everyone shows as offline. i dont know what the hell is wrong but at least my list isnt completely gone.

had the exact same problem as you 2 days ago.
I had no choice to uninstall ICQ and find a newer version.

All is well again but what a pain in the ass when ICQ is blank like that lol..

Dont forget to make a backup of your old icq db files just in case.

Good stuff, but I still don't understand why you don't have a copy of your contact list saved. Check your preferences - there must be some way you can get it in case of a problem - other than checking your chat logs for everyone's UIN.

It works lol though I am still shown as being offline.. just tested it :thumbsup
