question for google gurus
 

i asked the question at webmaster world but they have moved the thread into the paid members section so i can't read the replys. does anyone no how google treats unicode whitespace in urls? i.e. %20

i am using mod rewrite with my urls, but the script i am using has space in the queries so it means it would be easiest if i can use white space in the query urls e.g. adult%20site.htm

does anyone know with any certainty whether adult%20site.htm, as far as seo is concerned, would be treated as well by google as adult-site.htm ? i.e. would google treat adult%20site.htm as two keywords adult and site as it would with adult-site.htm.

alternatively if anyones got paid membership to webmasterworld the thread title is "White Space in URLs and SEO and Google" could they let me know if the answer is yes there.

yeay they're treated the same.

had this whitespace happen on my site - and the url got treated the same

FYI this has absolutely nothing to do with unicode.
%20 is the URL encoding for a space because space is
character #20 in the old ASCII character code that
has been in use for decades.

Its the same. and it seems to like %20 better than " "
