Is AMPUTATE YOUR HEAD ever gonna come back to GFY?

????

polish_aristocrat 08-14-2004 05:04 AM

I think yes, but it will take some time :2 cents:

DarkJedi 08-14-2004 05:06 AM

I miss how he made his 'reputation' online by bashing newbie designers who he felt were competition to his design skills.

Hell, if anyone can get away with charging $1100 for a site design when current prices are a fraction of that... they get my fucking respect any day. Pulling that off requires either serious talent or bullshit skills or both. :2 cents:

FuqALot 08-14-2004 05:08 AM

He never left gfy.

Both his nicks got banned. One apparently after he threw an infantile rage by posting a banned word over and over again.

I find the guy hilarious. I mean, he once posted that he has kids he's paying child support to, etc but he acts extremely immature online. Funny shit.

Actually I do miss the Comedy of AMP... like him getting OWNED repeatedly by Brad-shaw and Drew Kole. Sometimes they do get a bit overboard.... kinda like kicking the town drunk in the teeth after you've knocked him down repeatedly.

maxdaname 08-14-2004 11:29 AM

Juicy vs. AMP was fun :)

$1100 for a site design? What was it a multi page paysite? Don't tell me he charged that much for a TGP page :helpme

He used to say it was something like $3k or $5k.

I miss Amputate Your Head. :(

And for those of you bashing his design skills, might want to think about all those nice sites of Lensman's that he designed.

I think that says a lot about Amp's skills in itself. I doubt Lensman feels ripped off. :1orglaugh

You get what you pay for. Prices for a good site are higher than $1100.

One my constant complains about this place in particular are the cheap fucks who won't pay
a good price for a good design.

Prices for a GOOD site can be well over 200k, depending on what all goes into it. Those tend to highly dynamic, custom sites, but the point still stands(they also tend to be mainstream sites
for places like BMW).

IMHO, designers are screwing themselves by going super cheap. Especially if your competition lives in a '3rd world' country, where the US dollar goes MUCH much further.

tranza 08-14-2004 01:16 PM

I don't think so....

lazycash 08-14-2004 02:01 PM

Amp has been back for a couple of months with his new nick kak_azn. He's been acting like a total noob so no one suspects its him.

Voodoo 08-14-2004 02:15 PM

Just because you can't afford a site design by a true professional with the amount of money you make from your fucking sig, does not mean they are over priced. You morons think that $1100.00 is alot for a site design? Obviously, you have no concept of the amount of time and effort it takes to develop a REAL site worth putting up, and are used to paying for half-ass, 3rd world designers would couldn't design a site to sell a dollar for a penny.

Recess is over.

You raise a good point. However, your point is limited to very big mainstream corporate sites who's design is part of a larger ad/brand management campaign. This incorporates a wide interdisciplinary approach (focus groups, targetted psychological profiling, consumer behavior indexing, etc etc) aggregated into one comprehensive marketing campaign. This involves a huge amount of statistically verified testing. Taken as a whole, these campaigns cost hundreds of thousands of dollars if not millions.

This situation is light years removed from charging an arm and a leg for a site who's conversion potential, branding capabilities, and campaign scalability are anyone's guess.:2 cents:

Sometimes being cheap at first is a good policy to take considering that you will be investing more later IF the test pans out.

pimplink 08-15-2004 06:08 AM
