Help! I have 100,000 pics to put in folders...is there
I need your expertise & input!
I have 150,000 pics to file in folders.....in batches of 40. Let's say the 0001-0001.jpg, 0001-0001_thumb.jpg, 0001-0002.jpg, 0001-0002_thumb.jpg and so on until 40 - then it switches to 0002-0001.jpg.....and continues. I need all the 0001- to go in one folder & all the 0002- to go in another folder. Is there a program that will do this for me automatically without me moving the files around manually? |
im not sure if ther eis a program out there, but it would be very easy to code one if the pattern is the same all the way through...
|
I could generally accomplish this in Acdsee

Until Manic gets back online - I won't be able to try that option. Is there anyone else with some sort of solution?
|
don't you have a programmer over there at topbucks? this is quickly done with php.

You can create simple a simple batch file to handle this for you. It would look something like this:
md 0001 md 0002 md 0003 move 0001*.jpg 0001 move 0002*.jpg 0002 move 0003*.jpg 0003 Then just drop the batch file in the same directory as all the pics, and launch it. It will create any subdirectories right in the main directory, and move the named files to their respective subdirectory. This of course is only using 3 directories as an example, but I'm sure you get the point. |
We can write a quick program for you to do this...hit me up and lets talk. :)

Please e-mail me if you are still looking for software that will sort your files. I think I have something that might work for you.
I had the same need as you a couple years ago... so I had a friend write a small app for me. I'm not sure it's exactly what you want, but it's worth a shot. You can get me at nibbi (at) nibbi.net |
