I don't think those are satellite pictures, so much as some sort of radar visualization. Just my :2 cents: .

That is a very well formed storm eye!

Webby 08-13-2004 03:29 PM

Sheesh.. you would think a tropical storm was something "special" - but seems it's only something special when it hits the US.

So far this current storm has travelled over a few island, caused loads of damage and killed some folks, but there is absolute minimum mention of that in the US media. It's only if actually hits the US it seems to be a thing of interest and massive concern.

When a hurricane hit Guatamala a few years back and killed 12,000 people and left loads more homeless and distressed, the most mention that got, even in the "better" press was some comments of the back page. The coverage in the US was... just speechless. There is one hell of a load of "I'm all right Jack" while other countries acted and started assisting.

A couple of years back one hurricane sat still over the Virgin Islands and battered the shit out of the place for three days - again, no mention in the US.

Quit being a load of self-centred "girly boys" - there is nothing more peaceful than having a decent drink in the eye of a hurricane:-) Ya can be assured of peace - it's very peaceful and birds come out again and even the sun can shine:-)

fr8 08-13-2004 03:31 PM

Yeah. Look at those eyes. Sexy. lol.

Have fun you florida people

I knew I caught one of these eyes winking at me :winkwink:

BTW.. Probably too late for some, but if there are any webmasters in the path of this hurricane - take the covers off your computer boxes and store them well off the floor.

The static in the air can screw computer boards and there is less chance of this by removing the casing.

Cheers!:thumbsup

CDSmith 08-13-2004 03:42 PM

Shit that's a big-ass storm. Looks like it mowed right over Florida completely like a giant curling rock hitting dead center.

Unreal.

We've had some hellish prairie storms up here in the past 40 years, but I'm thinking nothing like that has ever been experienced in Manitoba.
