Alternative To MediaPlayer To Play DivX Files?

is there a movie player that will start playing a DivX movie before it's completely downloaded? i'm an impulse masturbator, it's either now or forget it.

Can you play avi movies before they are finished downloading? I thought they stored some important info at the end of the file..

You might try a program called virtualdub.. if anything can do it.. it can. It's not really a media player exactly its more of an editor, but it just might do it.

it's a codec issue...

on my laptop where it's a straight windows install, avi's and mpg's play right away from websites...

on my PC where i've installed other codecs I have to wait for them to download before they'll play... and half the time they play fucked up...

i tried dumping all but the same codecs that are on the laptop, but shit just got worse.. and had to restore.

divx video FILES are not streaming. They have encoding config info at the END of the file. (I know, totally stupid.)

divx can be streamed, but only with special server/client software.

has nothing to do with AVI though as far as I know, WMV is also AVI....

Avipreview works for avi files but it's a bit buggy.

VLAN is what you want. Get it at http://www.free-codecs.com

It plays without codecs and can handle ANY type of file (including partially downloaded temp files)

I'm suprised no-one here knows this stuff.
