My buddy's (non webmaster) computer was hijacked a few days ago. I tried for two hours to fix the problem and could not get a connection to the internet to uninstall the adware.

Man there are some greedy fucks out there, though not too smart.

What happened was he d/lded some adware that hijacked his homepage, the file was called "secure" and was some hoky warning page with ref links out.

The problem was there was also a dialer that auto loaded when you connected to IE that totally froze up his whole comp and just showed a blank white screen.

When you go in to delete the file called "secure" or the .dll files, all of them just show right back up after deletion.

When you go to remove the program called "shopper assistant" it needs to actually connect to the net to get the uninstall info.

What this means is that he cannot surf the internet to even go to the spyware removal site advertised in the "warning", nor can the computer hook up to the dialer in question, so essentially, the wm who did all this bullshit fucked his surfer out of $60 for some computer expert to come to his house tomorrow, but also fucked himself out of money by not allowing the surfer to even connect to the internet.

It's no wonder it's getting harder to make money in this biz when all anyone is doing is kicking people off the fucking internet.

The "computer expert" wont be able to fix it either. :thumbsup

Make a copy of adaware & spybot either on disk or on cd & install it on his computer. The other thing you can do is go into his msconfig file & check what is loaded to startup at boot time. Remove what you believe is the culprit then try to logon to the net. It should save him the $60.00

Yup, this works for me about 95% of the time..... I have to do this to my kids computer about once a week. They like gaming/music sites and things like this and it never ever fails, they will get porn downloaded into their computers, and it PISSES me right the hell off. The problem is some of these little greedy fucks will rename the shit to make it not get caught in the filters we set on there and then we're stuck having to deal with the shit.

NOTHING pisses me off more than to have my 10 yr old or 6 yr old come and tell me they have porn dialers or spyware on their fucking computers, especially with all the shit I have on there to protect them FROM this shit.

EVERY day I have to go and remove shit off their computers..... and it makes me crazy. All because of some greedy little assholes that can't make their money the HONEST way and have to be shady about it. :mad:
