What should I make business cards in?

I don't know much about print stuff or business card designing,e tc...

Is photoshop fine? What pixel size is good? Resolution? Anything else to take in mind? I'll be designing it then taking them to get printed, what file format should I take tpo them? Easy questions, I just never did them.

Thanks.

Resolution should be in 300dpi

it needs to be 300 dpi in cmyk mode for offset printing
and you need to set up bleeds
so if a business card is 3.5x2"
it needs to be 3.625x2.125"
or 3.75x2.25" depending on the printer

Then bring in your guidelines normally 1/8" on all sides
the background image should extend all the way to the edge
but none of the important text or images should go past the bleed line (the cards are cut down to be 3.5x2" in the printing process)

or just hit me up and we'll design it for you at a good price and you don't need to worry about all these specs :)

Good information here about the trimming and the bleeds. Dont forget to covert to a TIFF file after your done depending on the printers needs. Everything else is good to go here based on the information provided in this thread. Photoshop is the way to go! :thumbsup

A shameless plug here, with no benefit to me. I would contact highonacid at http://www.acidflyers.com

For less than a hundred bucks you can get 5000 2 sided full color kick ass business cards. They have always done a super job for me.

:2 cents:
