Drug company CEO's need to be jailed

Ok now we all know they are loosing a killing because people import drugs from canada etc.

So here is what they have the FDA do today:

FDA fears drugs a terror target
Acting commissioner says imported drugs biggest concern

WASHINGTON (AP) -- "Cues from chatter" gathered around the world are raising concerns that terrorists might try to attack the domestic food and drug supply, particularly illegally imported prescription drugs, acting Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Lester M. Crawford says.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Crawford said Wednesday that he had been briefed about al-Qaeda plans uncovered during recent arrests and raids, but declined further comment about any possible threats.

US- If you dont have health insurance your screwed

All these old peoplewho cant afford the meds in us and have to use candaian sources are getting heat...very sad

It's freightening that companies have such a strong hold of governments. Using those tactics to freighten seniors or low income patients requiring medications to maintain their health in my personal opinion, is quite unethical. It's not like yuppies with medical insurance up to the wazoo are buying their meds online - they won't get reimbursed from their insurance plan. So in reality, not only are yuppies paying a higher price for meds, they are also paying a higher price for their insurance plans because the terms don't allow the medications to come from other countries - even if it's at a significant reduction. If they want it to stop, either bring down their prices or find a reasonable pricing structure worldwide so gray markets won't have any feeding ground.

Again, having been in two aspects of the pharmaceutical/ocular businesses - this is my personal opinion.

There is never anything good on the news these days.

Tom_PMs 08-12-2004 09:10 AM

What kills me is that they wont work on anything from natural plants or animals because you can't patent a drug unless it's all synthetic.

You can probably eat a worm from malasia combined with some fungus from colorado and be cancer free. But you'd never hear of it because nobody profits.

I saw a story a while back about a doctor I think in australia who was injecting melanoma with the common cold virus and it was killing the cancer. Can't patent a naturally occuring virus though, so don't expect it to make world news.

Actually Juicy, one of the men in that ferry crash in NYC got everything covered including two amputated legs, all rehabilitation, all hospital bills, even prosthesis' and over $1000 a month in prescriptions covered by medicaid because he was poor with no insurance.

While another passenger who had been paying $5000 a month for her insurance for decades was denied the rehabilitation materials she needed to walk again because her insurance company denied her claim..

It's shit like that which shows our system needs help big time.

Yep, not only are they controlling the governent but the culture of the US is now in the hands of corporations. The gov keeps laxing antitrust laws regarding television and radio stations so that now it is only 3 companies that control what music is played...movies shown...clothing styles pushed etc.
There needs to be hardcore reforming of anti-trust laws or there will be no turning back.

hmm.. seems like only few weeks ago they were trying to ban the sale of offshore medications to the united states. that didn't go thru. now they come up with this? if the law the united states wants doesn't go thru they will just scare people away from it now?

Insurance is the only reason I keep my part time job.. The company has a pretty good plan and I don't want to lose it.. It's just lucky I only have to go to the office once a week and they have no clue how much I work.. :1orglaugh

Now that they have everyone 'at attention' with the Terror alert system & most of the media reporting on what's convenient to them - it's probably very little 'advertisement dollars' for the pharma companies to be paying in order to scare the american people back into spending their money in the US.

I believe that the only chemical terror attack has been on US soil. *anthrax* - I could be wrong though. Kinda crazy how they can manipulate the ones who can't afford it into rationing their pills in order to make ends meat. These patients think they are still treating themselves, however they can actually working against their condition by not taking their meds in the proper format & doses.

Again, this is my personal opinion.

Its a suckful thing really is.

MetaMan 08-12-2004 09:54 AM

cherrylula 08-12-2004 10:23 AM

Wow, that's pretty amazing. California wouldn't give us a dime of medicaid after an emergency accident when we were poor because we didn't have kids. You cannot get medicaid in california without having children under 18.

Of course, run over the border as an illegal and the state will pay all costs of your childbearing and medical bills. But doG forbid a poor taxpaying citizen might need medical care.

my dad is somewhat on the hippy side and has always visited "new age" doctors that give him natural plants to cure stuff. I don't like these frutiy doctors but they have really helped his lower back pain and arthritis as well as my mom's high blood pressure. Maybe we can learn something from hippies after all
