Im about to piss off some sponsors...

Starting next week i will be doing a weekly posting on a random sponsor. This is what i will do for the posting.

1: Send traffic 20k-30k to test ratios
2: Signup under my afillate id wth a few cc's to see if sales count
3: list reasons why people should use a sponsor
4: list reasons why not to use that sponsor
5: I will also list the little tricks a sponsor does to see that you dont get the sale.

Im not tryin to piss any off but i will because i have found these tricks and i will make them pubilc.

You won't find much out if you only send a few signups.. anyone intelligent that is shaving isn't shaving that high a percent.

justfreemovies 08-12-2004 05:06 AM

Addam - RichRealm 08-12-2004 05:06 AM

I wasnt talking just about shaveing but glitches with the software as well. There is one sponsor who i will not say becuase i ahve not talked with him yet were you can switch your payouts before the next day to benifiet you.

I did this test with a ccbill sponsor and nasty dollars
ccbill never counted my sale
nastydollars did

justsexxx 08-12-2004 05:21 AM

Sounds good. However keep in mind that with ccbill it works like this

1. You visit www.paysite.com
2. you join aff program of paysite.com
3. you now use www.paysite.com/yourid.cookie
4. You join, but WON't see the signup.

This is because the first cookie info is stored for 24 hours at least.
Also deleting cookie doesn't help, since also ip info and such are stored.

Just to let you know:)

Hope your affilate address and credit cards are not in the same state. If i was shaving any signup coming from a affilates state would not be shaved.

Yes it does have obvious value. But some will see it as a way just to bash a sponsor.

nico-t 08-12-2004 05:37 AM

i think its quite normal to test it and publish it, im surprised noone (i know of) never did it before.
Its gonna be interesting.

You may take some heat from some has they will claim it violates their TOS. For example a trial join at a buck or three may get you a $35 payout. To be fair, ya should stay for enough time for the sponsor to be whole in the transaction.

I have always thought that we should have a trade organization that tests sponsors and that sponsors agree to a code of ethics. Part of the deal is that they will be be subject to random blind testing. Then that sponsor could display a seal of approval.

The ethics should be two way. Affiliates cheat too. Think its just as hard to control fraud on the part of an affiliate??

Other items that could be included in a list of unifying principals:

Don't steal content
Don't spam
Pic tags on all sites

Well you get the idea. Have levels of mebership to pay for testing and enforcement of rules. Break the rules and you are off the list of approved affiliates or sponsors.

That's the short version. Would it work or ever happen?

There have been some meger attempts at starting a trade organization, but they don't seem to take off.

Signup and promote my extreme fisting and piss drinking amateur site.

I would be happy for you to post your results.....:)

Hey man very good post and i thank you for taking the time to write this. You got some very good points in there you have listed . Feel free to contact me if you have anything else to add. My traffic days are pretty much over pushing a afillate url. Im gonna start focusing on the webmasters and find ways to benifiet us all. If it pisses off a sponsor or a group so be it. We are the ones who make the sponsors who they are. Your post made me think and i like that. I see a near future project coming on:thumbsup

TheMob 08-12-2004 06:06 AM

what kind of traffic will you sell those sponsors?

:thumbsup If you decide to start an organization, I'd do the best I can to help.

I have tested sponsors and emailed them after the fact to advise them I was testing and not trying to rip them off. Like I had 30K hits to the sponsor site and no joins, thought something was broke and just checking? In every case, my join showed up. I didn't do many of them and didn't take a big payout on a cheap trial.

That said, I'm still sure that there is plenty of screwing going on... Worthless without proof. And like many say, if you don't trust a sponsor, move on...

If CCBill doesn't credit you with sales from the same IP in 24 hours they are ripping everyone a new asshole. How many people surf from networks or shared IP's?

scoreman 08-12-2004 07:52 AM

Try to be fair and send targeted traffic to the sponsor, especially if its a niche site. You will get alot of criticism if you send teen traffic to a MILF site and then come on here saying the sponsor sucks.

HammerALL 08-12-2004 08:04 AM

We're dealing with each other already man - so definitely - I am eager to prove our ratios are good and most importantly the customer service rocks! - I look forward to working for you.

i think he's saying that if you join the affiliate program and then try to join through your own ref link less than 24 hours later, ccBill will scrub the sale.
