Ask the people that play everquest. Im sure they can answer this question.

pornJester 08-11-2004 09:33 PM

Many people are addicted to alternate realities that are seemingly much more gratifying than their real lives.

Maybe they had problems before...communication problems/or neglect problems.... and this was just the 'proverbial' straw that broke the camel's back.

Depends which game, which country you were raised in and/or are living, and also your age, your responsibilities, your lifstyle. alot of factors in this equation. Unfortunately, many people are sucked into online gaming, and let their lives waste away. Many people still play everquest, its quite popular. 450,000 subscribers

This is in no way discouraging or badmouthing online games. I do however reccomend serious investigation before you decide which realm you want your ehart exposed to.

Illicit 08-11-2004 09:52 PM

Definately Possible... Now Im going to go play some CoD

"The Sims" was also really popular with women. :1orglaugh So I think it was a real killer..

Other games? Hmm..

Stupid as it sounds, but online board games can also be addictive (chess, cribs...).. like Yahoo! games..

Well, for other MMORPG there was Asheron's Call 1 and 2, Anarchy Online..

NoCarrier 08-11-2004 10:09 PM

strats 08-11-2004 10:09 PM

Also, this gave me a bit of excitement. :)

Online gaming is in a very unique location at this point :) ....

.... there are several excellent and profound games that have been under development for several years :) ... there are all kinds of really cool stories of company buyouts, people getting fired, people leaving big name companies and starting their own, all kinds of crazy shit in the last 6 years. not all is fun and games... serious threats and stuff goes on inside corporations surrounding various aspects of online gaming, but... there are 2 companies that i know of which are being led by good people. if u want any more info, send me a pm, i may respond,

Also, I dont reccomend games for everyone, and definetly nothing special is going to happen for at least 4 months

p.s. selling World of Warcraft Beta :p

NoCarrier 08-11-2004 10:10 PM

And we forgot Unreal Tournament. :glugglug

You'd be surprised how seemingly "lame" games get really addictive :(

BlingDaddy 08-11-2004 11:25 PM

I almost lost Mrs. Bling Daddy because of a game called "Soldier of Fortune". I was so involved in the "game" that i lost track of time.... it is possible....

Thankfully.... I chucked that fucking disk before it was too late.

Yes it's very possible. I dated a very attrtactive woman for quite some time that seperated from her husband and was in thr process of divorce because all he ever did while they were married was play EQ.

That's it, he played EQ and ignored her. I never understood it. She was very attractive and fun to be with. How anyone could set that aside for a game was beyond me. Non the less I got some fun times with her thanks to his addiction to a video game. ;)

xlogger 08-12-2004 01:12 AM

Im 19 and i dont think i will ever get married!

I don't get the attraction of that game.. I played it at my friends place a few times. It was mostly a lot of waiting or killing the same stuff over and over.

I think I loved my level 99 Amazon more than I loved my GF, that's for sure.

pimplink 08-12-2004 07:41 PM

It seems many of the LONG TEDIOUS strategy games like Earth and Beyond/Everquest thrive on the psychological need to protect a time investment.

Vice City and CounterStrike are the only games I have consistantly played for over a year. I've been playing CounterStrike for almost 5 years now.

The thing I like about both VC and CS is that I can pop in, play for 5 minutes, have fun, quit and go work. On the flip side, I can easily spend a full day on either game.

Games like EverQuest... I wont even touch.

Sassy Girl 08-12-2004 10:23 PM

speaking of games...does anyone here still play mohaa? I'm addicted to that game.

xclusive 08-12-2004 10:27 PM

Without a doubt this is a fact of life the internet has changed things forever...

Zerof8 08-12-2004 10:27 PM

it is possible that the video game could appear to be the problem or be the cause of the argument that eventually ends the relationship but if your relationship ends over a video game then someday it would have ended over a turkey sandwich or some shit:2 cents:
