Re-installing windows is so much fun
 

really, I couldn't think of a better way to spend my evening. Yay for laptops with backup 'net connections.

I need to do the same on my PC but I lost my XP disk. HAH!

That has got to suck, i have a restore cd from the company that i bought my pc from.

Just reprogram windows XP, if you remember the code lines.

yeah thats true. last month i installed and uninstalled it for 5 times. its fun !! but back up is problem !!

Yeah, really is fun lol - had to reload the bloody thing 3 times over the weekend. Microsoft ended up costing me £260 for nothing & have sent me a free copy of XP Pro to say sorry.

Reinstalling Windows is not as bad as realizing various things you missed backing up beforehand:glugglug

Why not switch to Linux and problem solved?

If they can't keep XP running with some simple maintenence they will never figure out Linux.

omg, i can't even explain how frustrated I am right now. It refuses to take the registration key of my perfectly legal, totally paid for copy of windows xp pro and is now locking me out of my system. We tried calling them on the phone and they hung up on us twice.

Puleeeeeaaaazzzzeee....

enough...I think Linux has been around long enough to distinguish that the 2 are NOT interexchangable. I've run linux, and yes it is a (little) more secure, but the support to get anything done right will cost you. and if I have to pay for it, it better have support to go with it. Not begging some lonely freak on irc to please explain to me why my filesystem is not mountable.

Linux has it's place, on the server, and not on the corporate desktop.

no, ,trust me, I didn't pay out for two copies (for two computers) for the fun of it.

okay, I thought it only fair to take back my frustration and say we finally had someone at the US customer service branch help us. Something went wrong with our registration and they gave us a new key..now, that wasn't too hard, was it?
