Any Florida residents live in Winter Park, Orlando? How is the community?
 

I'm moving to Florida in November, and am doing some house shopping. I'm going their for college, and it is located in Winter Park...is that a nice community compared to the other parts of Orlando? Should I get a home in Winter Park or somewhere else? Price is not an issue.

No actually, I'm going to Full Sail University.

I live about an hour and a half away, in a rural area, but I've been there lots and I'd like to live there. it's close enough to the action without being too insane. Let me know when you get here...we'll do lunch!

Too much traffic in WP. Go east or south of Fullsail, lots of nice areas. In fact it is close to 417, so you can really live just about anywhere and be less than 30 minutes away.

Nice area up there...Also there is a nice adult webmaster community down in these parts when you get down here we will have to get a group toghther go out for some drinks...

Congrats on going to Full Sail. Expensive school, but it seems like its worth it. I took the tour and I may take the courses for the Gaming Design Prg. :)

Fullsail, Pay Per Degree program. If you know your PC stuff take it.

If your not that good. You will waste you money.

I'm taking the Film course...not much to do with PC's except for the editing process, and I already know how to do that...so I should be good ;).

I think Winter Park is a shit hole. You should really check it out and spend more than a week there before deciding on moving there. You will see why....

Winter Park just sucks less than other areas of Orlando. If you like ghettos and constant thunderstorms... Orlando is the perfect place to be!

Well, is the majority of Winter Park the ghetto? Where else would you recommend that is close to Winter Park, but nicer. Again, price is not an issue.

The real Winter Park is one of the wealthiest areas in Orlando. Where Full Sail is located is right on the edge of Winter Park and it itsn't as nice there. To get in the real Winter Park it will cost you a pretty penny, but there are some other areas that are nice as well.

Thunderstorms are an issue, but ghettos??? I live here and I only know of one really bad ghetto....and that is near downtown, and what city doesn't have that? Its a great place to live, not so friendly to the industry, though. Full Sail is a great school....hope you enjoy it. Let me know if I can help in any other way!

If price isnt an issue .. get a short term lease first .. Orlando / WinterPark has so many different areas .. learn the city before you pick a house somebody else says is in a good place ..

and yes, that's what I'm going to do -- get a short term lease on an apartment first...just looking for the best neighborhoods

I just mean the whole Orlando area in general is not very nice in my opinion. Of course, there are nice little pockets here and there of civilization... but overall, i did not like it.
