riosluts 08-10-2004 06:41 PM

nolaman 08-10-2004 06:48 PM

No, most issurance companies file hitting a deer under natural disaster. It shouldn't effect your collision rates or anything.

Thats some nasty ass damage to your car man. That'll costs a pretty penny to get fixed.

MT_Butterfly 08-10-2004 07:01 PM

At least it wasn't a moose. :) Every year, in my area, a few peeps decide to take on a moose with their vehicle and they end up losing. Big time....
Actually the best thing to do with deer is hit them head on and not swerve or try to drive around them. I once hit 6 deer and kept on driving down the road to the nearest bar where I shot back a shot of schnaaps then called the game warden.
Glad you weren't hurt. :thumbsup

cali_22 08-10-2004 07:05 PM

No, I wish I did have pictures of my car after I hit them. Only thing it did was take out part of the front grill...luckily it wasn't a Dodge Neon or my Honda Civic. :) Did you get any estimates on your damages, yet? I'm sure you'll be soaked quite nicely for the repairs.

Isn't it ironic? You can't get within twenty feet of a deer unless your drivng a car.

Mmmm...no I didn't say I was drinking when I hit the deer (which I wasn't) , just afterwards had a shot of schnaaps. There is always a bar around, even if it's 7 miles out of town. Luckily, going 70 on a secondary road tends to "snow plow" the deer out of the way and I knew enough not to swerve or skid the brakes. Prior experience comes in handy sometimes. ;)

Glad it turned out as it did, too. And more importantly, I'm glad everything turned out OK for A C. :thumbsup

I hit a rabbit the other day at 90km/hr. First time in 5 years of driving that I have ever injured an animal. Kind of sad, he didn't have a chance at that speed... but I guess at least it would have been quick. He probably hit the transmission and rear diff. If he had started his run across my front 3 seconds earlier or 1 second later he probably would have survived. That's how close he was when he started. RIP little bunny. :(

fr8 08-10-2004 09:40 PM

Damn thats sucks. I least you hit it straight on. Ive seen worse accidents of people trying to miss the animal

xclusive 08-10-2004 09:42 PM

Shit next time you see a deer hit that fucker dead on and bring it home that's some good eatin trust me...

Sometimes they will try to beat you across the road and run right into the side of your vehicle.

I hit a deer in my F250 a few years back, he was one head higher than the hood of the truck. I can still see his eyes.

There were some deer chunks flying and it caved in the front of the truck but I was stilll able to drive it home.
To this day, I'm still glad I wasn't driving a car.

Called the sheriffs office when I got home and told them the location of the dead deer, it was all busted up in the ditch.

Ever see them when they get hit by semis?

pornguy 08-10-2004 11:47 PM

The sad thing is, that there is ver big chance that the deer did die later in the woods. or what ever.

But glad non of you guys got hurt.

The Deer mostly likely did not live. They often get up and run away in terror only to die not very far away.

I was in a motorcycle accident once that I walked away from. In fact, I even pushed the bike for a half a block or so. A few hours later, in the morning, I could no longer walk. I was off my feet for a good 2 months with a blown knee. Same sort of thing .. Shock is very powerful.
