Just pre ordered Half Life2
 

Just got done pre ordering Half Life 2 that the release date is Sep 1st. Hopefully they keep that date now. Anyone else pre-ordering it?

Are they giving anything away for pre-ordering? I'm sure there will be plenty of copies on the shelves the day of release.

Will it also require a 256 meg video card with everything else maxed out?

I tell ya, I'm in one of the last stages of Doom 3, and I'm getting literally 2 (TWO) frames per second in some places! arghhhh..
So I've been pricing mother boards and athalon socket 939 chips and 6800 ultra parts lately... sucks to be too slow and I want to get ahead of the curve damnit..

I've had it on pre-order since Feb for when it was originally supposed to be out in April, I'm still waiting and waiting and waiting here, ha ha ha.

I stopped preordering games ever since it became incredibly popular with distributors to start taking preorders a year in advance...as soon as a game is in development now it's available for preorder and the distribution dates are always just a couple months off...but pushed back three or four (or more) times before before they finally release a half-assed version of something.

If you pre order from ebgames you get a free tshirt while supplies last. I'm not sure what vid card but I'm sure your going to need a new one.

I have the new Athlon Socket 939 CPU (FX-53) and it ROCKS !!! I was gonna get the ASUS board, but ended up with the ABIT because nobody had the ASUS in stock at that time.

I also picked up the ATI Radeon X800 XT PE card and it kicks ass. I can't wait for Half-Life 2 to come out and see how it blows away Nvidia since it was designed for ATI cards :) Nvidia pretty much blew away ATI on Doom, I'm hoping that things will change in HL2.

the halflife 2 engine is alot better than the doom 3 one

this game will run fine on older machines

Thinking about it... Will it include any updated version of CounterStrike or?

That game is hot, i didnt know that they got a part 2.

Sounds nice.. I was looking at an alienware system using the fx-53 (aurora I think they call it), or possibly getting the raw parts, or a barebone system.. Havent decided yet. I'll probably use ARS rewards for it, so I may not see it for quite some time anyway, lol.
I'm using a POS freebie system now, so it's no surprise I'm blazing away at a remarkable 2 frames per second. It's really not a "game" at that point, lol.

Thats cool. I havent upgraded in a long time though.. so if I'm going to think about a new system, it's gonna be an extra nice one I think.

yea i just upgraded about 4 months ago, i did a big mistake though, but a killer system and a shitty gfx card, im regretting that now, like in doom 3, my card is bottlenecking my system so it dont run as good as it should


im gona buy a new one at the end of this month looking into one that has that half life 2 deal :winkwink:
