WOLF CAMERA SUCKS!! Photogs .. who processes your film??

:feels-hot I just dropped off two B&W rolls (T-Max) at Wolf Camera and they call me 20 min later to tell me that they processed them with the color chemicals and ruined them. I'm sooo pissed because anybody who knows the main two types of NOTHING alike .. these pics were of one of my best friend's wedding, and are irreplaceable .. I didnt even bring my digital because I wanted to use my SLR. :waaaaahh

UGH .. anyways .. I always though Wolf was the best place to develop my prints, I'm not sure I can trust them again. Anybody have another option? (Besides a buying DigitalSLR, I am saving up for one... )

pxxx 08-10-2004 12:03 PM

I would have been mad also if that was me.

rowan 08-10-2004 12:06 PM

Is there any image recoverable from the negs? I seem to recall about people deliberately "cross processing" to come up with some unusual effects...

rowan 08-10-2004 12:07 PM

BTW since moving away from standard consumer negative film I only go to a professional lab. It costs more, but it's worth it.

tony286 08-10-2004 12:08 PM

never use film its nice be too expensive.

Cross processing is usually color film ( normally processed c-41) and color slide processing .. basically forces a negitive image (film) with postitive producing chemicals .. or vice versa .. it creates awesome colors .. but wouldnt work in my case .. developing the b&w with c-41 totally destroyed it ..

Damn, that's gotta suck.

Are they offering you any compensation? (Besides two replacement rolls :321GFY )

Not really .. 2 rolls and processing of those two rolls .. :321GFY

The receipt they gave me when I dropped them off stated that was all I'm entitled to. I dont know what else to do
:feels-hot

ps .. I'm a girl .. dont need you to be thinking a guy cried for 20 min over losing wedding photos
:(

boneprone 08-10-2004 12:41 PM

Damn that really sucks bad.

Wolf is supposed to be one of the better places to go.

Fucking stupid tech should be fired.

rowan 08-10-2004 12:50 PM

Yeah, I think it should be taken further. It wasn't accidental damage, rather pure stupidity.

Butrflied 08-10-2004 12:53 PM

Thanks Boneprone .. I know the guy deserves to lose his job .. but I know he would never do it again, I could tell he was honestly sorry when I started sobbing on the phone .. Everybody deserves a 2nd chance ..

I'm going to talk to the manager when I go back tonight .. but there isnt anything they can offer me that would make up for this.

sperbonzo 08-10-2004 12:56 PM

I hope they can do SOMETHING about this.....all the frickin' sobbing around the office is driving me crazy, tear stained keyboards, snot on the monitors, the wailing and weeping, the rending of hair.......

VideoJ 08-10-2004 12:57 PM

It'll cost you money, but look for a good pro lab to process the important stuff (like wedding pics). There should be several in S. Florida. Check for the places that still process E6 (slide film). They'll handle your film like it's there own.

For B&W, you can process it yourself as well. It's not very hard and the chemicals are pretty cheap.

You forgot the gnashing of teeth.

Buttr, I would go to a pro shop. Ask to get the actual film back and take it to a pro shop and see what they say. It's worth a shot.

I've always heard good stuff about them but mistakes happen. Sorry for your loss...

Butrflied 08-10-2004 01:07 PM

hahaha thanks mike and elli :) .. I just called to make sure they are returning the film to me .. she said it was completely clear .. no images at all .. but we'll see whats up when I pick it up tonight.

Unfortunatly they completely remove any liability besides film and processing replacement. Even if it was an act of negligence. You agree to it when you put your film into those envelopes.

Dax 08-10-2004 02:13 PM

Once that film is destroyed.. is gone..

but wolf has always been good for me. I alos ( believe it or not ) love costco's lab. Most of my pro prints are from there. Great quality and awesome prices.

If you lived close to south beach i would tell u to come down and have dinner with me... errrrr.. i mean come down to the labs down here, as they are pretty good too and not that more expensive than wolf.

If it's something important that you shot look for a pro lab. Some specialize or only do B&W. They all make mistakes but less likely at pro lab.

Another reason I never liked doing weddings. Thats sad and a damn shame. Sorry to hear that.
