"What happens on ICQ stays on ICQ"

... Is what someone once told me.

What do you think? I just had a talk with someone on icq, funny b/c of the very hot topic of the moment: hiring female sales people for their looks. And I wanted to post it here on GFY. But.... part of me says I shouldn't do it. What do you think about it:

Should anything that happens on ICQ stay on ICQ?

Juicy D. Links 08-10-2004 06:54 AM

just xxx out the other parties name

NakedBo 08-10-2004 06:58 AM

Yeah that sucked babe, I can't believe that he said that too you:(

NakedBo 08-10-2004 06:59 AM

And do what Juicy said blank out the guys name, nobody will know who it was then.

Why is ICQ any different then email or whatever?

Kassidy 08-10-2004 07:49 AM

I think icq is private. You might say something in an icq conversation you assume is between you and one other person that you might not want the whole board to read. But then again, if it was some guy being a complete ass, you need to out him immediately :winkwink:

Apollo 08-10-2004 07:55 AM

Does this mean I can no longer tell people about my steamy conversations with russian chat bots?

sherie 08-10-2004 07:58 AM

I think that it should be personal (in most cases). All conversations should be personal whether it be ICQ email etc., However, with that being said, if you feel the need to do it then do it and xxx out the names. But then that really sucks cause it's like you're outting someone but not really outting them. LOL Ah fuck it, I'm tired it's early and I am rambling. Post it if you feel the need to. =)

Oh and btw, funny that you should mention the "sales reps" deal. Someone I know was just ICQ'd the other day by an owner of a company to tell him of "this really hot sales girl" they hired LMFAO funny how that happens ;)

ronaldo 08-10-2004 08:14 AM

Yeah, unless someone is threatening you OR there is a discrepancy that needs to be resolved by the Kangaroo Court that is GFY, then I suggest holding back on posting that Maria.

Alot of people would consider it a breach of trust and may think twice about dealing with you in that way.

I'd hate to see that happen to you. :2 cents:

pxxx 08-10-2004 08:15 AM

Yea i think that shit is really messed up.

Haha, I know what you mean Sherie! Another coffee and it should be ok ;)

And of course do companies still hire hot girls for their looks only. It obviously works! Bad PR or good PR... it's still PR.

What started this thread was a webmaster asking me to show him a picture of me before he'd sign up. That's all. But it is hilarious considering the hotness of the hot-salesgirl-topic.

VirtuMike 08-10-2004 09:11 AM

What's wrong with hiring hot chicks?

Zoe_Zoebaboe 08-10-2004 09:13 AM

Post it!

It would be an intresting read methinks.

*fetches popcorn*

Doctor Dre 08-10-2004 09:13 AM

jJust remove the names

johndoebob 08-10-2004 09:18 AM

That's just like that with private stuff if it's about business ask the other guy, if it's about an argument and you feel the need to post and if it'll clear things up do that.

beemk 08-10-2004 09:20 AM

theres a reason its over icq and not gfy. i know if i saw someone posting icq logs all the time i would always think twice before i discuss anything with them on icq.

Skinner: "Good morning class. A certain...agitator...for privacy's sake let's call her...Lisa S. No, that's too obvious...uuuh, let's say L. Simpson -- has raised questions about certain school policies. So, in the interest in creating an open dialogue, sit silently and watch this film."

jkfc 08-10-2004 10:17 AM

removing the name is a good one. no one is getting hurt by that.
