Google Images Traffic
Found a little trick while going thru some log files for a friends site.
If you play with it for a bit you should be able to rake some good money in. I find the service of google's rather sly as they do not contact you and ask your permission to hotlink and resize your pictures. As an artist i find it rather offensive that google thinks they have the right to resize and display artwork not intended to be viewed as such. Heres part of the trick. 1. google doesn't care who's domain the picture is located on , only the domain that the picture is displayed on. ( think about this ) 2. google blacklisted domains still hold image links ( and backlinks ) So , im not going to walk you thru it, but use the search feature to find how google ranks the pictures , then clone and duplicate.. |
You make some interesting posts when you're not too busy attempting
to justify your ongoing attempts to poke holes in GFY. :glugglug |
Thanks for the tips, Smokey, you fucking rock.
I've bookmarked this thread and will hold a conference call with my Russian developers regarding this issue. I predict AT LEAST 3 bots being built around these issues. Thanks, again, man! You fucking ROCK! |
nice, thanks for the info
|
I don't get it.

Would imply that the holes did not exist before someone poked them. This is not the case. What actually took place is , i noticed several people stealing boxes from the back of gfy , when i reported the theft , nothing happened , so i went in thru the open door and left a note detailing the robbery, when still i got no reply ( or i did but nothing was fixed ) then i proceeded to bring some elephants in gfy's backdoor to let everyone see how big of a hole they had. These holes have since been patched, several new holes that exist have not been patched , but due to the incompetence of several people , i will sit back and watch the castle crumble instead of sending in the elephants , as last time all i heard was complaints about the elephants. :) |

But theres more. If you can pick up a blacklisted domain with lots of listed pages ( images ) it can be worth your while. |
if you examine a google image link
images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.sexywoman42.com/paris-hilton/movie/hilton-nipple-paris.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.sexmovieconnect.com/where_can_i_see_the_paris_hilton_sex_tape_online5. html&h=600&w=800&sz=33&tbnid=pad8tHbnUR4J:&tbnh=10 6&tbnw=141&start=8&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dparis%2Bhilton%2Bnude%26svnum%3D100%2 6hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26safe%3Doff you will notice the imgurl is different from the imagerefurl |

I salute you sir :thumbsup
thanks duke |
bump for a good tip :)

The easiest way for using the traffic on a blacklisted domain is just redirecting all image requests or to delete the pictures and redirect. They only update every few months (I heard every 6 months) and I don't have a clue if they'll even check the existance of images on blacklisted domains.
I'm using my few blacklisted domains for yahoo tho. |
how much traffic (that actually makes it to your site) is there from images compared to keyword searches, smokey?

Now let's say you have the #1 listing for that same keyword, except it's in the image search. How many visitors to your actual site might you expect from it? I'm just wondering your best prediction. |

Hi Smokey
|
I've seen some large amounts of google image traffic over the day, but the quality is highly diminished compared to regular se traffic.
Nice post though. |

Traffic from images.google.com is almost equal to kw searches but the conversion rate is not so high.
Also although google blacklists domains from their normal search they don't apply the ban to their images.google.com ,or they at least take several months to. I have many banned domains still getting google images traffic. |
thanks for the great info!

Smokey, if I have htaccess set up to perevent hotlinking, can google still crawl and index my pics ? Or i need to allow googlebot in htaccess ?
