2257 - pending blowout of non-US produced content?

Seems like the value for content produced in countries like Canada & some European companies will drop like a rock if all this 2257 stuff goes through considering it is illegal for them to help webmasters & customers comply with the new guidelines (providing personal info on the models, etc)

Anybody else think there might be some dirt cheap deals that Canadian & foreign webmasters can position themselves to take advantage of?

Discuss.

:2 cents:

Are you sure of this?

contentjunky 08-10-2004 12:22 AM

Not sure just waiting till the 24th. We are revamping all the model releases and IDS to set up all the webmasters so they are ready to go.

Positive with Canada & the UK, and it sounds like a lot of European nations are in the same basket.

Something along the lines of the privacy act, etc...

Paul Markham 08-10-2004 02:22 AM

Sorry Nate you are wrong. In fact you might be better off dealing with European producers. More Europeans will have passports and the authorities have less chance of checking the documents than with US based models.

As for the privacy act, the model signed that away when she signed the model release.

I suggest you talk to a lawyer before you post about legal matters.

Jace 08-10-2004 02:25 AM

i have bought all my content from europe, and I have EVRY_SINGLE model release and id, no blackouts on the id's either

mrmovie 08-10-2004 04:22 AM

The proposed law does say that content from overseas cannot be used. People producing content overseas will tell you otherwise to save their own asses.

SoBeGirl has all AMerican content with all American IDs and that is the key. The feds cannot check on IDs coming from other countires so that content is worthless.

SoBeGirl has Model docs from the US and that is LEGAL>

well, I don't live in the US but I will do my best to follow the rules but telling me I *have* to buy US goods and those of any other country doesn't sit that right for those of us that live outside the country.

his guy is a liar, an idiot or both.

Or maybe he's just scared to tell you the truth and thinks he may be able to gat a few more clients this way.

You have to have a Goverment ID, that can be verified by the issuing goverment. That means a passport, National ID or Drivers License. It has to have the modles, name, date of birth and picture. The picture has to resemble the model in the content.

Sobe you are so weak. :321GFY

Now try another scam to sell your stuff.

Finally Paul we agree :)

as i read it, non-u.s. models must have a passport period - no other forms of i.d. will be legal.

What's that you've been smoking dude?

We provide model releases and IDs as IF the client shot it themselves. No difference whatsoever...

Nice try though, the non-exclusive CPs might go into blowout mode, you never know, right?

Edit: SoBe, is that your ugly head there?

As I said not a problem for us as most of our models have passports. But the lawyers at Paul Raymond Publications have said a National Identity Card, with the models signature and a Driving License will suffice.

We will continue to supply passports.

I think busting is the wtong word. A guy with a dick that small should not get in front of a camera. Who is it Eric?

mrmovie 08-10-2004 09:40 AM

Bullshit. Content produced overseas will not be allowed. The US govt cannot veryify the age of the models by using some form of foreign identity. It must be a US issued passport or ID.

If you want to wind up in jail that is your problem. SoBeGirl is producing content from Miami Florida USA. Legal, legit and you get model proof of age with every set.

Here is an AMERICAN GIRL getting her ass busted. :-0

I can hardly wait for a complaint under NAFTA if Canadian and Mexican producers are shut out.

In fact, I would like to get the complaint started.

Sobe, please post the link.

Why do you keep telling everybody bullshit ? I got a european passport and I can travel with it whereever I want. Why ? Because it is an internationally accepted document that identifies me, issued by my country. You can verify the age by looking at the birthdate, yes, believe it or not, every passport, no matter what country it is from, has a birthdate printed in it. If there is any doubt about the validity, the embassy will be able to verify it.

It's not like european passports are something people paint in their spare time

Sarah_Jayne 08-10-2004 09:58 AM

the US is going to go after, lets say, a British webmaster for using British models? If the other worries that they will go after webmasters who host in the states is true then with your scare story it follows along. Good luck.

directfiesta 08-10-2004 10:06 AM

The US wants to " liberate " the models.... They heard that some content producers were using WMD in the shoot .... :Graucho

Joke aside, I hope they do that. All non-us sites will do a killing. I already see my first page:

This site IS NOT compliant with 2257! Get the content you cannot get in the lame US sites ...

Paul Waters 08-10-2004 10:08 AM

Shit, Sobe may be right....

" (b) Picture identification card means a document issued by the United States, a State government or a political subdivision thereof, or a United States territory that bears the photograph and the name of the individual identified, and provides sufficient specific information that it can be accessed from the issuing authority, e.g., a passport issued by the United States or a foreign country, driver?s license issued by a State or the District of Columbia, or identification card issued by a State or the District of Columbia."

Paul Waters 08-10-2004 10:15 AM

Thank you Sarah.....

:)

But the wording sucks. It could be interpretted as meaning a Canadian driver's licence is OK.

Sarah_Jayne 08-10-2004 10:19 AM

yeah but from what that says (and I am just going on that selection) just use a Canadian passport and you are covered.

Sarah_Jayne 08-10-2004 10:22 AM

the word 'state' is confusing to people from abroad because it can sometimes be used to talk about a country. They always pair it with the District Of Columbia in that statement though so they are making it clear they mean a US State.
