I have a MAJOR problem with ICQ/AIM disconnecting every 5 minutes

I am having a very big problem today with both icq and aim disconnecting and reconnecting every 5 minutes or so. It stopped for an hour or so but now it is happening again. My partners computers/laptp have icq and aim as well but this is not happening to them so it is not our ISP.

Any idea anybody? would greatly appreciate the help!

I have not been spamming nor will I ever do so but this is happening to a few of us? really strange

I doubt a re-install will do anything because it is happening to both icq and aim! :(

Happens to me too. some days worse than others. I have uninstalled aim before, been through their useless help, nothing helps. i simply have learned to live with it.

I've been noticing it happening as well. :(

ISP Connection been dropping?

ztik 08-09-2004 07:37 PM

Maybe your ip switched recently and the person who had it before you was spamming.

Change your ip or try using a proxy.

ISP is up and well... my partner is here working on ICQ/AIM and does not have any problems

I tried resetting my IP and this is what it said:

Windows IP Configuration

An error occurred while renewing interface Wireless Network Connection 4 : unabl
e to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out.

sometimes its not as bad, but it does happen to me atleast a few times a day... normally aim reconnects itself and icq i just hit connect again. i have got used to it now, no way i can fix it.

Try downloading the newest version, or if you have the newest version, get an older one. Or check the connection on YOUR computer...

I will never ever upgrade my icq again because the last 2 times I did it just made things worse... their upgrades always suck! also what exactly on my connection shoiuld I be checking for ?

for example right now it stopped! both icq/aim work fine
