blogs, seems like a load of shit

Can someone explain what is so special, why we now call a diary / journal a blog. What is so special about them, i don't get it please someone explain, because when i start to look all i do is laugh.

So far the "SOFTWARE" for it seems like something a 5th grader could write.

Please someone put me in my place, tell me what's up because of what it seems to me so far I don't want to waste my time finding out what it is on my own.

Boy it's a cool word, LOL

So is anything actually technical about it? Because the blog shit i have in my google tool bar is laughable.

I hear people throw the name around like it's something new and great, so someone please explain it to me.

So far I'll charge 10 bucks programming for anyone that wants a blog, LOL.

Blogs maybe a load of shit, but when you create dozens of them and link them together they become a huge load of shit getting some traffic and making you money :winkwink:

Blog aka Web Log

Diary = Too feminine.
Journal = Sounds like work.

The internet needed a new way to express the method of storing useless data in a web based format.

Web Log was it's original term. Then ebonics took over and people got lazy, and just stated calling it "Blog"..... There is no WE in Blog, mainly because it is typically ONE person's mindless dribble spilled onto the internet for all to laugh at and make fun of.

Does this answer your question?

Does anyone have an example of the huge loads of shit?

I just want to see what the end result of a fully featured blog is supposed to be, so i can spend like 30 extra mins and make something even cooler

Yo, i'm not talking about the traffic, yo

i'm talking about the programming behind them, everytime i here about them (as a programmer) people make them sound like this big technical deal. So I'm not really concerned with the traffic to them, yo yo, just what they are. I was pointing out the obvious to me, and asking why a diary/journal has this name of blog. What makes it different? (not traffic bc i can get traffic anywhere, yo)

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...efine:Blog+--+(weB+LOG)

It is an evolution of online journaling. Time based, usually reverse chrono. Link heavy. Plus uses technologies like blogrolling. Basically a home page simplified with easy to use, web-based software. (blogger.com, MT, manilla, etc.)

out of that the only new thing i picked up is blogrolling. "Time based, usually reverse chrono. Link heavy" is a given, or i would think it was because that is how our site news has been for years.

"BlogRolling is a one-stop linklist manager for your blog or journal, helping you manage your ever-evolving linklist with ease."

which appears to do what the blog button in the google tool bar does.

"You'll never have to interrupt your surfing to add a cool new site to your linklist - just add the BlogRolling 1-click link to your browser's links and click it whenever a site catches your eye. Voila, instant linkage!"

so basically it copy and pastes the link for you? wow, lol, i've got to be missing something. You can also set what group of people see what link lists, groups are cool feature, display only what you want, ok also cool but not new.

source of info: http://www.blogrolling.com/

I think I'm starting to see the differences with all the feature add ons.

phpslave 08-09-2004 02:58 PM

all seems pretty full featured and cool, i just thought it was something new.
