How many webmasters are scamming AFF and other dating sites?
 

Seems like a lot of fake profiles and then the webmasters doing the scamming send bogus personal like e-mails to lure guys into joining a site to get the girl's pics and contact info.

This is enough of a problem for us that we have a fair amount of code devoted to finding and altering these ads to alert our users that it's a scammer. I'd say that out of 400 or so new ads created a day on Bondage.com, maybe 5-10 are attempts to advertise a website.

there are a lot of the dating sites that create the fake profiles themselves to interest members and when that member joins guess what..

I see that what KRL is talking about is definitely not a good situation and is fraud but what about the programs that create fake profiles to make it seem as if they have more members? wouldn't that be fraud as well?

I refer today a guy who choses the nickname chris_288 and then i i contact that guy from a fake profile from a girl becasue i want that he upgrades his membership and then i get a bigger commision ?

$5 Submissions had a thread recently offering to create the fake profiles for pennies a piece.

I'm spamming fake profiles using juicylink's photos and it's converting like crazy!

This has been going on forever. In the audiotext biz we used to pay girls $10 an hour or so to get onto the AOL/Prodigy/Compuserve chatrooms, get the guys hot, then give them a PPC number that looked like a normal number. :winkwink:

Well, among the 40,720 that signed up last week! Guess how many are fake??? So far, we deleted 1030 fake profiles!

Running a dating site is a lot of cleaning up work ;-)

IMO most "fake" profiles are men taking pics from sites or TGPs and trying to do girl on girl cyber / or people insecure about their own apperance. :(

Don't forget about other websites, Russian escorts and the like; they try every trick in the book to get by your browse agents....:1orglaugh

I echo the sentiments of my colleagues in the dating field, who've posted here. Clearing out fake and/or commercially motivated profiles is a constant, 24/7 undertaking. Given the kind of traffic that comes through the AFF members' area, you can imagine how attractive it is for scammers to try to get in and sell something. We did the math a few weeks back: from a traffic exposure standpoint, a female profile on AFF is about the same as having a fixed banner ad on a site with an Alexa of 30,000. Crazy, huh!
