Mixing Xanex and Pot?
 

Is mixing xanex and pot a good idea?

My brother-in-law (who's maybe 20) apparently stumbled in this morning, punched and kicked two holes in his bedroom door (because he couldn't turn the knob to open it).

He has no idea who he was hanging out with last night, how he got home, or what he did.

All he remembers is that he took two xanexes and smoked some. The other guys he was with were crushing it up and snorting it.....

Should we be planning a funeral?

I would imagine xanax would be hard to keep burning in the bowl.

I have a script for xanax, smoking pot wasnt what messed him up it was the xanax. Im guessing he took two xanny bars 2 - 2mg pills which is enough to make you seem drunk for awhile and then knock you out for a good 12 hours feeling groggy when you do wake. Also snorting xanax does nothing but mess up your sinuses sinces its not water soluble... :)

Yea, he said the guys he was with were snorting it so it would "Get in their blood stream faster"

I think this is the first time he's ever mix two substances (other than beer and pot)....

Yea it doesnt get in your system any faster snorting it. So they were just messing up their nose/sinuses. :1orglaugh

I would bet he did a little somethin more than he thought he was doing or wanted to tell u about.. .. Xanax and weed both sloooow you down.. if you take both.. you are very very relaxed.. I would say too relaxed to kick a hole in the wall or door lol

Knowing alot about pot, I must say it is less harmfull than most things.

When you take 4mg or more at once you have a period of drunken like state. People often dont even remember the things they do in this state.

A: Snorting pills is generally a bad idea. First of all, fillers can be bad for your nasal passages, and can do serious damage to the lungs when inhaled. Many pills contain cellulose and chalk, which pass through your intestines harmlessly when taken orally, but can be very destructive if they get into the lungs...since they are not water soluble.

On top of the potential physical damage, it's unclear that snorting crushed up pills is any more effective than taking them orally. It's possible that fillers and binders in a pill could act as a buffer, stopping the material from coming into contact with the mucous membranes until such time as it is blown out when the nose is blown. This seems more likely the smaller the dosage of material in a pill (1/2 a mg of material is pretty small). In this scenario, less of the drug might be absorbed if snorted than if it were simply swallowed.

Either way, the primary differences we know of between Vicodin and Xanax pills is that there is a lot more binder and filler in the Xanax. Vicodin contain over 500 mg of active material (including acetaminophen) while a Xanax tablet may contain only .25 or .5 mg of alprazolam, the rest being fillers/binders. So, assuming there IS a problem with snorting binders and fillers (more than there is with snorting acetaminophen), snorting a Xanax tablet could be worse.

Sorry we can't be more clear, but this isn't a well studied area.

I am on Xanax .5 4x per day . Now my body is used to it ... the other night i had 2 beers while on it and I was fine.

If you just pop em out of nowhere then drink then yes it will fcuk you up .

Xanax causes short-term amnesia, like Valium. It's a good drug to take if you want to do something stupid and forget about it the next day, but it doesn't do much to your "high" other than to make you feel even less self-conscious.
