State of the Industry
VISA Policies reportedly affecting AVS. Fees were predicted to weed out the little guy, has it had much effect ? Various niches were in the process of being eliminated due to legalities.
Paris Hilton. Large paysites discussed lowering payouts due to retention trouble and changes in the industry. TGP Owners boasting increasing profits? Does anyone know if a "State of the Industry" type summary exists for 2003 or quarters of 2004 ? What's on the horizon ? |
Bumping this since it didn't involve (pics) or (videos) and is rapidly falling down the page.

Business threads don't get any replies on this board. This is now a surfer board, not a webmaster board.

I am not so sure what kind of replies you are looking for but the sky is still not falling.

This applies to all industries really. In order to survive long-term you just gotta come up with new ideas/concepts and improve what you've already got. It's what you make it.

The President Of Porn will address all state of the industry questions at Vegas Internext.

AVS is doing fine, they just had to alter a few things...

The industry needed an enamea and it is getting one..
it is not the surfers that make things bad, it is the bullshit operators that make things bad.... the surfer is our livlyhood, not the enemy and if they get treated as such, it will be the best thing to happen to the industry for any reputable , honest businesmen. it is not surfers that cause problems here, it is the fake nic, and drama queens that spew bullshit and misinformation that cause the problems here!!!:2 cents: if you did not have that going on, then many webmasters would still love this place for the resource it is, rather than just tune in to see who called whom , what ,cause they are bored. This is by far the best board out there in the totality of boards ( I know there are other good ones, I am talking if you could only pick one!) does it need some help? yes are there different opinions on the type of help it needs ? yes bottom line is it still the best place to get THE pulse of the industry? YES!!!!! |

2004: The year of consolidation. TGPs take over an even larger share of the market, slowly taking more of the pie from link sites and SE guys.
2005: New government law: Free porn for all. |

What's on the horizon? Here's something I posted about a month ago:
"I can tell you in 2005 the relationship of the paysite owner with his billing company would be the primary factor of success or failure." |

Someone should do this quarterly or yearly, as part of their resource site. This "State of the Industry" summary would be good reading and discussion.

Evan, did you have IP Alert in mind when you mentioned this ? Or something else ? I was looking for some of these Year-End predictions for previous years to see if things had changed much. |
