It's not on the update site, where are you seeing it?

Furious_Male 08-06-2004 12:56 PM

It showed as an update for one of my laptops (xp home) a day or 2 ago. I updated and havent had a problem yet. Oddly I dont see it as an update for any of my other machines.

WiredGuy 08-06-2004 12:57 PM

I think I'll wait a week or two before venturing to try it. At the least, I'll make a backup first :)

MickeyG 08-06-2004 12:57 PM

It looks like they are staggering the downloads so it doesn't kill their servers. I can't even turn on automatic updates right now.

If I can get it I will install it and report back..If I can.

Pirated? Hell I didint pirate this copy.. Someone gave it to me hahahahaha

Mack 08-06-2004 02:32 PM

we've had it on a machine at the office for weeks. It works fine. You won't see any pop ups , and remember it will auto update without your having to do anything. came into the office on monday and the message on the machine told me that it had installed an update and rebooted the machine..........

Things are about to change.................in a big way.

Yeh, they're doing some kind of special delivery with this because its 80 Megs and the 56K guy will take 10 hours each.

They're spreading out auto updates over 8 weeks. So they'll be knocking on your door anytime from now through October.

Face (o_0) 08-06-2004 02:50 PM

The auto update is set to on by default as is the firewall but both can be turned off.

EviLGuY 08-06-2004 03:05 PM

I don't have the patience for another re-install of Windows XP yet.. so I am going to wait and let someone else be the beta tester. :glugglug

SP2 is 266 megs and it is delayed until at least August. The only current release is beta and the final to manufacturers. Good luck downloading the bitch if you have a modem.

I have the beta on my Sony and no problems.

Jay_StandAhead 08-06-2004 05:38 PM

For those who want a faster download, use bit torrent: http://66.90.75.92/suprnova//torrent...inBeta.torrent

SirSmokeALot 08-06-2004 05:40 PM

Because of past issues with microsoft. I to will be waiting.

Doctor Dre 08-06-2004 06:19 PM

I aiin't installing that bullshit for sure ... I'l wait 2 months

hydro 08-06-2004 06:23 PM

wait more than a week, wait about 2 or 3 months so you don't have to deal with all the new exploits for it that would make it easy for you to get another worm like sasser

BigFish 08-06-2004 06:29 PM

i have sp2 beta installed on all 5 of my computers at my house (2 laps & 3 desktops). ZERO problems for 15+ days. why is it that fucking complainers always blame someone else when it's their own incompetence that's causing the problem. :waaaaahh :waaaaahh
