Is this a quality Ebay item?

A friend of mine found an american football while cleaning his attic - he won it in a contest at his school ages ago. His Teacher providing the football was none other than American Footbaler Kicker Morten Andersen's mom, Morten Andersen should be known for most people who are fans of NFL. The football is one of the first Morten Andersen ever kicked according to what his mom told back then. The football is not signed at the moment, but can be signed according to my friend.

So what do you think? is it worth putting on ebay?

It's really no good without the documentation that goes along with it.. if you had a letter from his mother and it was signed by him then maybe yes, it would be something that was worth money.. but right now, it's just a football, and there's a lot of this type of fraud on ebay, so that might not be the best place to sell an item like this.. try a sports memorabilia shop, or ask someone at one of these shops for advice.

My friend is still in contact with his mom - so he could basically have any documentation needed.

Maybe get it appraised by a couple of sports memorabilia places to get a idea of how much it's worth first

That's solid advice, and also get a document to certify it's authenticity if it is worth anything.

Most documentation is so easily faked and often is. When we had our card and comic shop in the 90's we would see fake documented crap all the time.
