What do webmasters really want ?
 

Webmasters here is your chance to be heard!

- When sending surfers to the sponsors what information do you want to know about the traffic? What are the statistic you look at, and which one do you wish you could see? Anything you think would be useful to help or satisfy you say it in this thread and please give an explanation why that would be important to you.

- What do you think a sponsor should do in order for you to trust him? What do you base your level of trust on? In doubt what do you think they should do to clear any confusion and doubt? Write everything that is important to you.

- What motivates you to signup with a sponsor? What do you look at? What do you want to know? How all these information you want to know should be presented to you? Write your thoughts about this in this thread.

All this information is going to be very valuable to sponsors who are trying to know what do webmasters really want! (And actually want to do something about it) Also this will help understand and dissipate any perception or myth webmasters have about programs and such and give a great input for the sponsors of the future.

what i want to know about my traffic is only 1 thing: which url they came from and with how many

i trust a sponsor if one of my webmaster friends have received a cheque from them
or if i know the owner of the site personaly

a good recommendation from a fellow webmaster is enough to let me sign up, the insite of the webmaster section is what motivates me to really go and promote the program

I'd like to see more relable info on where they come from and where they GO when they leave. This can probably only be accomplished with server-side log monitoring, and I'm just too damn lazy for that.

Guess that's why I use PayCounter. I like to see my sites split up and monitor them individually.

Fuckit - why am I in here and not working?

well I would love to know what page that sent them to my sponsor. and since I run only a a few banners I can see what is banners are working with my galleries. Also would love to know how far they got thru the tour before the jumped out before signing up.

Also well documented TOS and a good FAQ area is something I look for

On most sponsors I become a member before signing up on my own. this way I can see what I am sending my traffic to. If I don't like it how can I sell it. Also I look around at all the BBS and see who or what is being said about a sponsor. Sure all sponsors get complaints. but if it is a regular thing and alot of them are complaining. there is something wrong. Also if a good fellow webmaster suggests it. I might go and sign-up under his refferal.

I really like to see where the sign up comes from then so I know what text is getting to the surfer also I want to paid of course.
Cheating programes get posted on the BBS very quickly and sponsor will always get cheaters who complain and bash them on the boards.Look at 12 clicks I have always found him helpful,but there have been some that dont agree with what he dose.So don't pass a sponsor because of a couple of complaints try them for yourself

A problem I see with a few sponsors is when they have 50+ "niche" sites but only 3 are any good or updated enough to keep the surfers (usually teen, hardcore & amateurs). Also, why does some sponsors have 10 different teen sites when one would do?

Plus some sponsors spend too much time worrying about rewards. Why don't they just set up a type of adult version of iwon.com?

here's what I what from a sponsor...
* I'd like to know what pages the clicks that I'm sending to a sponsor are coming from and where the customer that signed up came from (and not just signups, but raw clicks so that I can determine what the vistor/page to clickthru ratio is and what links are drawing most clicks)
* In order for a sponsor to gain my trust, I would like reasonable speed with responses to emails, a working phone number posted if we need to call, as well as some sort of assurance that lets us know we'll get paid. Stating who the sponsor uses for their 3rd party tracking also makes me feel a little more at ease as well.
* One thing that I really like is a temporary membership to the site upon request (so I have an idea of what it is I'm promoting, ESPECIALLY for partnership)
* What motivates me to sign up for a sponsor is how much they pay, how good their banners look, and how much I like their tour http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif Free content offered is also a biggie for me as well (especially those pic/gallery of the day sponsors)
* And finally I like having a good resource section with the program. Sponsors test out their program to see what works and what doesn't, I wished these results could be published and advice would be given on what works best! Also a site promotion / traffic source section is something I look out for as well.
