I've become dependant. My ass is slowly taking the shape of this leather chair. My elbows are raw from the arm rests. My fingers are thin and long, and I can almost spread my fingers from one end to the other.
From "Enter" to "Caps Lock", from "Esc" to "F12" with one wide hand.

I don't know about you, but I spend at least 14 hours a day starring into this glass tit. It's become my lifeline. My connection to the world. I hate leaving this chair. Sleep is a complete fucking waste of my time.

I hear the constant sound of friends joining me in my day, "uh-oh" my ICQ says, as April joins. "Uh-oh" now Tanker, and Boneprone. "Uh-oh" Tam just logged on, and so has Babagirls. Wizzo, still hasn't accepted the invite.

I sometimes (usually) log on at like 9:00am, and stay on untill 4-5:00am sometimes around 2am I pass out with my hand on the mouse... and sometimes i wake up and while sleeping I did some right clicking.. and left clicking...LOL I awake with some wierd shit on the screne.....hahahha
one of these days I'll wake and find that I deleted windows in my sleep...

Ive got some "Keyboard Yoga Exercises" Ill post. Helps clear and refresh the mind when stuck at the computer for long periods of time.

I actually had to move my mouse to the left side of my keyboard and train my left hand to do what my right hand can no longer do. It took about 2 1/2 years for my right hand to burn out. It started in my wrist, and gradually worked it's way into my pinky finger, a stiffness in the morning, a shooting ache coming on earlier and earlier in the day. Then it began to affect the finger next to my right pinky, and I was noticing a reduction in motility. Finally, I decided to move the mouse about 8 months ago. It took me nearly 2 months to get as adept with it using the left, but now it's second nature to me, and my righr hand and wrist are much better. I sometimes use a wrist/hand brace on the right, just to aid in the healing, but it's taking a damn long time. This line of work can really take it's toll on you.

A good comfortable office chair is a very good investment, especially if the word "ergonomic" is included in the description. It's a must for people like us, as is taking some time every day to get outside and look around some, smell the roses as they say. I have an edge on this, because I have a big dog that simply won't let me stay inside all damn day http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/biggrin.gif, he let's me know when enough is enough and it's time to get the hell out of the house.

I have been alternating mouse hands for years now, which I think only postpones the inevitable result of getting carpal tunnel in both hands. I need to find something as useful as a mouse for moving the cursor. However, let's not forget that typing is part of it, too. I've learned to use an "ergonomic" keyboard, which helps a bit, but causes fits whenever anyone else sits down at my computer.

I've got carpal tunnel in both wrists actually, won't mention how I got it...
The Logitech keyboards and mouse make a big difference, also using a touchpad instead of a mouse helps alot, takes some getting used to but it does work as well, sometimes better then the mouse. It helps alot if your desk surface is at the right height.
I think we'll all be blind as bats before our wrists go, anyone know if the flat screens are better for your eyes?

Ahhh, I don't know if 'real' work has saved me or if it is interfering with my online presence. I make lots of money at work and it can be physically demanding.
I earn very little webbing, but am intellectually stimulated, my mind is frazzled by bedtime.
My real world friends do not understand why i spend so much time on the computer.
My online friends get annoyed when i don't message them for long periods of time.

I think for a lot of people -- when they discover computers and get obsessed -- it's just a phase... You'll get it out of your system eventually once the novelty of it wears off... ;) On the other hand some people are unstable -- they spend eternity in chatrooms and end up marrying a serial killer online.

Once I got hooked on Galicticom multiuser BBS's (actually I applied for a job there when I was 16 but they told me to come back when I was done w/ college -- I was hurt :) -- their "FLASH ATTACK" game!!! wow FAST paced multiplayer gaming -- that was such a rush! Such an awesome game -- so much strategy involved -- and tricks you could do w/ macros to build customized defenses and attacks -- mine patterns, movement macros, and scripts you could write to calculate missle attacks -- and all in TEXT graphics on 9600 modems! I'd love to play it again...

Last time I visited my brother he was hooked on Quake tournaments. I was hooked on IRC a couple of years ago also -- I wrote a script for a sex robot that would seduce men all day while I was at school -- and then when they tried to talk dirty to my robot babe she would advertise my website... hehe...

My glasses broked today. I will have to work at the computer, read, and go to college without it. Sucks, fucking headache.
