Tool to search and replace??
 

Hey,

I am after a tool that will check through a whole directory of HTML pages and automatically paste a recip table into each one, however I want it to be intelligent so that it knows which recip table to paste into which HTML file. I want to be able to say for example to put:

worldsex, JJJ, PK in a file named TGP1.html or something like that and so on and so on.

I currently do 25 pages with 3 TGP recips on each daily, and hate cutting and pasting them all everyday, so a tool that could do this would be great!.

Even though I hate recips. I've turned to them to help get me on my feet. Here is how I do it:

First I created a directory called "r" which represented "reciprical" on my hard drive.
Into that I created a directory for the images, and called "gallery01". Into that I added 10 images, thumbs, and some sponsor banners (rename the images 01 - 10, and the thumbs 01a - 10a., the banner to banner01, banner02...)

I created another directory called "recips" and put all the recip thumbs into it.
Then I created 24 recip directories, (call them "01" - "24"), and made a single "index" file into each.
That index files are all identical in all the directories except for the recip links.

Basically, I created a template index page, and a 4 or 5 recip table. The first 2 or 3 recips are to tgps, then one back to a free site that I run, and 1 to a sponsor tgp. (It's a tgp that the sponsor runs, - Pay per sign up http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif)

(up until now everything else has been quick and easy, this next part was what took the longest)
Then I opened a plain notepad page, and created the recip tables. I copied and pasted those into the index pages, and left a copy of that table in plain text in each of the proper directories.

When creating your index page be sure to point all your images to " ../images/PIC.jpg", and your banners to "../images/banner.." you get the idea. Same with the recips.

Now all you have to do is go to your server and create a new directory and upload "gallery01" (INTO A NEW DIR called "images"), "recips", and all 24 recip directories into that new directory. Don't forget to create a single, no-recip gallery that points to the image directory, and leave it in the new directory, for the tgps that don't request a recip. http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif

To create new galleries, all you do is make a new file call it "gallery02" add 10 new images, thumbs, and banners. Now go back to the server, and create a new directory, and upload the images, recips, and 24 individual directories.

The first time you make it it's a pain in the ass, but like I said, you only have to make it once. Everytime after that it's the same as making one gallery. http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif

Go to Tucows and use "replace" as your search key and you'll come up with a bunch of search and replace utilities.

I do it alot like you red except that I use frontpage instead of note pad. I make a .htm file with all the seperate sets of recipes one after the other..

Then I take the template for the gallery and paste the first table of recipes at the top and put save as (whatever1.html)..

..then I just go through the seperate recipe sets and then us save as on that same first template and save em to there directerys.

Same thing basicly. I just like to see the finished page as I am saving it.. instead of txt..

I do this one of three ways and usually a combination. webmastersmakemoney.com has a utility which will do this for you if you use their program. TGSW ( http://www.worldadult.com ) also will do this as well as creating your gallery from your template for you and autosubmit for you. For the tgps' I want to make sure there are never any errors with, the Hun, Al4a, etc I have created their recip tables and saved them as "snippets" in Homesite so all I have to do now is create the gallery then double click the snippet and it pastes it in for me http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif

With the replace tool you will still be doing alot of copying and pasting.

I use Dreamweaver. it has a few options that you will come to love if you decide to use it. first off I make templates and save the templates according to recips. then make the first gallery using the first template. save the apply the next template save and so on till you are thru all your templates.

after this is all done the I highlight all the galleries and use clean up HTML to rid of the extra comments that dream weaver placed in for the templates.

then there is the libary. I use the libary to make the templates and if I make any changes to any libary item it automaticly updates all the templates.
