Total Filesize for "Long / Reality" style tours...

Typically a standard paysite tour is anywhere between 50/kb and 120/kb. What is a good filesize for the "Long / Reality" style tours. They tend to be mucn longer which also adds some overall size to the load times.

After working with about 20 of these so far, I'm starting to see that they range between 90/kb and 200/kb.

Is this about right with what you have seen?

By my calculations, which could be incorrect, a 200/kb page should load on a 56k modem within 4 to 10 seconds.

Please post comments related to this topic.

Thanks

Anyone here know how to bust some knowledge? Or, did I come to the wrong place to ask serious questions about the industry?

Graphics and HTML combined. Total size.

second bump in 10 minutes. sometimes this board moves slower than that. as far as file size your numbers per page sound about right, any lower than that on a proper size tour image would be a little distorted. dont want to worry about bandwidth so much that you give up image quality too much. you also have to take into account for animated portions of the tour, such as gif loops, flash, etc..

Should have put " PICS " at the end of the ttitle... :1orglaugh

Filesize depends which surfer you are aiming for.

If it is a movie base site, surfers expect good quyality sample. They don't buy " better resolution once you paid " ... So lots of pics showing the action.

Other picture only sites catering to modem connection should have pages of no more than 125 kb... IMO ...

Ok great. Thanks for the info. That seems to be along the same lines of what I was thinking.

Cheers

I don't think you have to worry about bandwith that much anymore . The huge majority of people are on high speed nowdays (hell I don't even know nobody still on dialup)
