Any affiliate marketers from outside of the US do something regarding 2257?

By affiliate marketers, I mean gallery/freesite builders, SEO guys, and other people who promote sponsor provided content...

Is there anything that needs to be done? (I'm not from the United States)...

No but you can get the sponsor into trouble if he's US based so he'll require it for everybody.I guess offshore sponsors will be the future :winkwink:

Would you like to explain how this would happen?

You could put up a 2257 statement on your board and leave it at that.

If the US authorities wanted to check you out they would need to go through your courts to get a warrant. There is no way they can enforce a US offshore, tell them you have the documents and everything else.

Seems a lot of webmaster business is coming away from the US. :1orglaugh

However having the documents that are rquired by the 2257 law is a good idea to protect yourself. You need to KNOW the content you're publishing is legal and the documentation is with you, not at the other end of an email, phone call, ICQ or prayer. How many threads do we see asking where is this or that content provider?

We will be conforming to the new 2257 laws as much as we are required to do so as far as promoting sponsors etc. If you host your galleries etc in the us, you will still have to comply.

Precisely, just like the casino sponsors :)
I'm sure this will happen further down the road as all the bible thumpers want to rid
America of all that is "evil"...

Just roll with the punches as good as possible.

All I'm doing about it is keep my hosting outside of the jurisdiction for all this crap.
The basic idea is good, but the way they want it implemented... fuck 'em! :321GFY

I respect your opinion Soul_Rebel, but I HIGHLY doubt that you are right on this one.
I don't think Oracle Porn has both the resources and intellectual capability to suddenly come up with an industry-wide solution.
