How Do I Keep Spyware Traffic Off My Site?
I?ve been getting strange emails from people that are pissed because www.jays-xxx-links.com is popping up on their browsers. My site is clean. I run no spyware. Honestly, I can?t see what anyone would want to pop my site ? seeing as I don?t trade any traffic.
Anyone have advice on this? |
Mad props on your sites man. Love the design and setup you have. No idea about people popping your site though.
|
just sell me all your traffic that shows up with no referer.

Ok, I have deleted my links and reset your server's DNS-cache.
Should be fine now. |
Hmmm, you gotta figure out which spyware is doing this first before being able to figure out what to do about it. This is very unusual why someone would do this if there's no benefit for them? Ask the people who emailed you where they got the console from or what's the latest toolbars they installed.

Jay I doubt it is your site.
it is people who already have scumware on their computer and your domain sets off pop-ups and such. Some of this software may actually replace your whole site with their links. ( I have seen scumware that does this) The leaches are everywhere. It is going to get worse before it gets better. |
Some auto-installer must have your site in their software. Just as they put thehun worldsex, etc you must of been big enough to make the list, or else it is acting on the keywords on your page (sex, porn, etc) so now when a surfer with their spyware on their computer visits your site it automatically pops adult popups. Best thing you can do is put a link on every page to an information page on how to clean their computer with Adaware, etc.
|
this is only a guess on my part.
some one considers you to be the competition and they want to discredit you so they installed this popup spyware on sufers pc's so now it triggers at the right time and the shit is on you. as I said I am only guessing. |

Whoever made the suggestion about placing Spybot S&D and Adware links on my page might be the best policy. I don't really want anyone one my site unless they want to be. |
Maybe their sending the traffic to your top list?
Did the people who emailed you tell you what url was popping up? |

There's affiliate programs out there for spyware cleaning programs. I've heard Panda Software is one of the best anti spyware programs, and they have a 20% affiliate program. I've never used nor heard anything about their program, but sounds like it could be a win/win situation to help people remove this shit from their computer and make you a buck while you're at it. http://www.pandasoftware.com/partners/afiliados/ |

hijackthis is a great tool, but it's a little bit advanced for the avg user. |
taken for the hun gazette
http://www.thehun.com/gazette/ Getting thehun pop up 30 times? There is a hacker out there that infected a lot of computers with a Trojan Horse virus. This virus enabled the hacker to launch a wide scale attack on serveral sites, including mine. If you have thehun.net pop up on your computer 30 times every time you open a browser window your computer is part of a large DDOS attack on my site... I was contacted by someone that lived not too far from where I live, we talked and I almost begged him to allow me to come over to check out the problem and find the solution. Sitting at his computer I indeed saw thehun.net pop up on every page we tried to open. Some digging around brought up the solution though! So, thanks to a very good guy from Kampen, here is the solution for this problem: Click on 'start' and select 'run'. Then type 'regedit' and press Enter. Press CTRL-F and search for 'thehun.net'. Every key that comes up with this site you can delete (click it once and press the 'del'-button on your keyboard), hit F3 to search for the next occurance untill you're done. Press CTRL-F again and search for '086AE192-23A6-48D6-96EC-715F53797E85' and again delete all references to it. Use the Windows Explorer to browser to 'c:/windows/system32/ and delete the file named 'DReplace.dll'. If you can not find the file you can do a search (click 'start' and then 'search') |

BLOCK non page loads. A lot of trading sites get pimped through SPYWARE traffic -- its a pretty sleazy tactic if you ask me  It's a cheater's dream come true  |

My guess is they are getting pop ups ( that look the same as the ones they get all day long) when they enter your site and thus think its your site that is sending them. |
