Have any of you guys ever broken your foot?

I broke my foot years ago and never went to the doctor. I just let it heal on its own, which was a mistake. Just yesterday my left foot started killing me and was swollen. It obviously never healed correctly and now I'm paying the price.

Should I just go to the hospital or is there a some type of specialist I should just go to directly?

if you let it heal on its own you are SOL. There is not much they can do about it now, but send you to physio. may help may not....:2 cents:

Same thing happened to my cousin. He eventually went to a specialist and they ended up going in and tearing his foot apart and putting it back together. Was a long and painful recovery from that surgery. He wishes he just would have done it right the first time.

Yeah, I broke my foot actually only about 4 months ago maybe, and I didnt go to the hospital either.

Hurt like a BITCH at first, but I put a shitload of icq on it and lay down for a bit, and I was able to sorta walk then... I had a meeting to get to :1orglaugh

It hurt for a couple weeks if I remember, and i fucking actually re-hurt it when I was chasing after my girlfriends run away dog, and I put a bandage over it which stayed for a couple days then fixed it for a bit.

The bone healed some how though.. when I first broke it, it was amost sticking out all the way. I dont have any residual really unless im sitting in a chair and I put my foot on its side and let my knee go down, then it hurts.

The only thing a doctor can do now, is re-break the foot, re-align the bone, and cast it back up. This might include surgery too..

As mentioned in the post above, they would need to re-break it and reset the bone and it could involve surgery. I hope it works out! :thumbsup

why someone wouldn't go to the hospital with a broken foot is beyond me. a toe is one thing, but your foot. damn, you only have 2.

I broke my foot a couple years ago in cheerleading. It hurt like hell when i went to hospital and they had to pop in back in place.

yeah, that's what they'd do. they'd put you on lots of morphine, so it won't involve any pain.. it will be pure pleasure.

I broke the outside bone in my foot in college but I'm a wuss and went to the hospital. I was in a cast for a couple of months. I can't imagine walking on it w/o the doctor :(

They will probably have to rebreak it and make sure it heals right.

not my foot but my toe. When I was 4 a kid picked up a brick and dropped it on my big toe on purpose. It is still a bit bent. If I try I can still her mother beating the crap out of her when she came to pick her up.
