Anybody know how to fix a highjacked browser?
 

I tried what every geek says on geek forums but they aint work, hope you could help me...:(

I fixed the about:blank hijack not to long ago, what are your symptoms

Try HijackThis or if it is still there you will need to find a CWS shredder. Worse case scenario run a free scan from pestpatrol.com....find out what it is then follow the manual removal instructions

1. hijack this.
2. adaware.
3. spybot.

If this fails, Start -> MSdos Prompt -> format c:/ -> Y -> enter.

The last step only works if you are willing to lose all your shit

run hijackthis and csw shredder in safe mode

run hijackthis and manually remove the bugger

Not if you backup like you should.

www.selfsearch.com is my homepage and it comes back to that even if i edit the registry,
1. hijack this.
2. adaware.
3. spybot.
did nothing to fix this, guess i have to try pest patrol//

Did they fail? then try this. This will work for sure. When i had the 'about:blank' i tried it and it worked.


1]Click Start -> Run -> type regedit.exe -> press enter.
2]Delete anything under 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Browser Helper Objects\

dont delete Browser Helper Objects! delete anything under it.

if you run XP just set your computer back a few days. Always works

Yeah I would try setting your comp back first.....
Then the reghacking ^^

bhodemon, cwshredder, hijackthis, ad-aware, and spybot search and destroy.

make sure to use the immunize option in spybot otherwise the crap just keeps coming back.
