terrorist cells operate in canada and you say this??? in case you do not know, canada HAS terrorists. |
http://www.washtimes.com/national/20...4319-3699r.htm
http://cfrterrorism.org/coalition/canada.html Have al-Qaeda cells operated in Canada? Yes, experts say. In December 1999, U.S. border officials apprehended Ahmed Ressam, an Algerian national who was later convicted of trying to enter the United States with bomb-making materials. Ressam belonged to a Montreal-based terrorist cell thought to be linked to Algeria?s extremist Armed Islamic Group, an organization with ties to al-Qaeda. Counterterrorism experts think that Ressam?s cell hoped to perpetrate a millennium terror attack at Los Angeles International Airport, and some experts suspect that al-Qaeda cells remain in Canada. In June 2002, Canadian authorities arrested an Algerian-born Montreal resident who allegedly forged documents as part of a plot to bomb the U.S. embassy in Paris. Have other terrorist groups besides al-Qaeda been active in Canada? Yes. A former Canadian intelligence official told 60 Minutes that an estimated 50 known terrorist organizations, including Hamas and the Irish Republican Army, maintain presences in Canada, but Canadian intelligence officials dispute that assessment. Canada has also faced domestic terrorism from the Front de Liberation du Quebec (FLQ), which sought to turn the largely French-speaking province of Quebec into an independent state and set off dozens of bombs during the 1960s. Following the FLQ?s October 1970 kidnapping of Quebec?s labor and immigration minister, then Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau invoked the War Measures Act to protect other potential FLQ targets and prevent further acts of terror. The minister was found dead a week later, and his kidnappers were subsequently tried and convicted. The FLQ has not been active for decades. |

why do you say never? terrorist cells operate in canada and you say this??? in case you do not know, canada HAS terrorists. [/QUOTE Yah we got terrorists here but they don't wanna bomb us they wanna bomb you. Cause we don't have such an aggressive foriegn policy that produces so much hatred towards us. as for the flq; well I think the local authorities can handle them |
:thumbsup
|
Fletch, we are only 29 millions, we don't have the kind of budjet to have a defence system like yours ... off course terrorists are gonna stay here .
But that's kinda your problem because you attract them . So unless bush give billions to canada to get a better defence system, I doubt we will get any better ... |
Quote:
we already give you UNPATROLLED BORDERS, which is why I as, why does it seem most canadians dont seem to care? Is it because of NORAD? What would you do if attacked, you reply ask for money from Bush? come on. |
ROLFOMGLOLBRBSTFUBBQASL!!!!!!11111one
thats pretty damn funny. stereotypes are good. |
first off we wouldn't be attacked
second off there are terrorists in the states. where did the 9/11 terrorists learn to fly? |

Gotta love Americans pointing the finger at Canada when it comes to harboring terrorists. You seem to forget that you sure have your share of all kinds of terrorists. McVeigh for example. |

But if we were attacked by a group of criminals who happen to be from some country which says it absolutely does not support these criminals then we would launch a criminal investigation and try our best to bring these criminals to justice with or without the assistance of other countries:2 cents: |
no what you gotta love is how an american asks a simple question and the replies from canada is WE WILL NEVER BE ATTTACKED.
yeah we know youll never be attacked, THAT wasnt the question, question was: WHAT WOULD CANADA DO?? instead you guys ant to point at me as if I am POINTING AT YOU?? i asked a qquestion, if ANY of you care to answetr it please do so, otherwise you are all simply avoiding the question and trying to say i am pointing the finger at canada for harboring trrorists? i asked a question, not my fault none of you answered it and instead point at me. typical. |

its funny how the above posters simply wanted to do the "america vs canada" avoiding, |

A better question before asking yours might be: Who would attack Canada and why?

Also if terrorists attacked us.. I would suit up and go to war along side the Amerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrcans.
Without thinking twice I'd be on the next ship overseas. |

I asked the question that came to mind regarding a terrorist alert in canada. my question was and is still very valid with this thread title. i am genuinely cuirious as to what kind of fear an attack on canada would cause. first off, it seems none of you even think you could be a target. being an american ally is enough to be attacked i think. so naturally, it would cause GREAT FEAR because you people dont care. or at least believe an attack is even possible. which is why i asked, WHAT WOULD CANADA DO? it was quite simple |
Mouhahaha, funny shit
|

now, as for the terrorism...shit we'd be at a total loss if anything remotely close to 9/11 happened...we'd be done.. shit we had to call in the military for a damn snow storm..as bombing would destroy us.. that would be like destroying the TD tower and the Scotia plaza here in Toronto...we'd be screwed...:( |
If it came down to it we would need to give some of our badgers guns and send them to war.

See BradM's post. |The US benefits the most from an attack against Canada| I'd bet Canada will have something happen before the draft goes into effect and I'd bet it would be labeled as a 'terrorist' attack. The result of which will be a stronger bond between Canada and the US, and a stronger awareness among americans that "Canada is not safe from terrorisim either!" - which will discourage many people from moving there. Canada will then strongly enforce their new anti-draft-dodger agreements with the US, since we'll all be uber allies in the war against terrorism. If you think the war machine is rolling now... just wait and see what happens in 2005 - under Kerry. |
Jesus Brad. Nice way to paint your own people. Get off the bandwaggon of attention whoring for sig placement one day and get a clue.

As for what Canada would do if attacked...well...not many people hate us...but if we were attacked...if I remember correctly...a few people have old military uniforms around here...I heard a rumor we have a rowboat hanging around....and there are a couple pilots that work the forest fires that we could get. Other than that I don't know how Canada would protect itself...unless of course we took our troups out of: Arabian Gulf Region Afghanistan Bosnia-Herzegovina Hati Golan Heights Cyprus Jerusalem Sinai Congo Sierra Leone Sudan |
I saw a show on TLC once awhile ago about Candas Navy... they have some pretty badass technology.
At the time, I think it was said that it (this ship I'm thinking of) was superior to anything out there in its class. |
Our military always appears low-key because we just aren't in the news as much. I know our airforce pilots rock...there is an International competition every year and we win it a great deal of the time. Granted our force is not as large as some other countries...and we do more U.N. peacekeeping duties than anything else...but we do ok. We are not a super-power...never tried to be.

there are people dying every day trying to come into America through the south. Come see what goes on down here at the other border before you priase the northern one. |
Quote:
WOuld a canadian risk death to get into USA? Unlikely. Would a mexican? Cripes, it's mexico, of course. |
Quote:
Maybe we have unpatrolled borders with them because we want to encourage them to visit more often to spend their Candian dollars, and so we can go and fish in their nice world class lakes without too much hastle at the border :) |
Bigtime: I'd rather fish in ours in BC.
|
Quote:
yes. the point is simple. of course it goes both ways, we have you on top mexico in the bottom. |
Don't worry about us Fletch, we're safe as long as we have the Sea Kings standing guard.
