Is the word OWNED getting annoying?

I hear normal people walking down the street now saying OWNED when something stupid happens.

I was on holiday and saw some guys walking down the street, one of them kinda slipped on the kerb and his friend shouted "HAHA OWNED by a kerb"

I've told my mate all about it and he just looked at me and started laughing and asked if I knew that guy from the business.
