Microsofts new OS and its built in Search Engine.
Anyone know any details about this?
Seems Microsoft is working on implimenting a Search Engine into their newest OS with the intention of ceasing the publics use of Google and other SE's.... A buddy of mine is a software engineer whos friends works for Microsoft. He says it is their #1. priority for the new Microsoft OS. If this comes to light, Google investors may very well lose their asses... Will the public trust a company like microsoft with what they are searching for on the web? Beware. |
google is already on top of it building a new seach app for your PC :)

I heard gates talking about it on CNN, or something not too long ago, the deal is, if I understand it correctly, it's a microsoft search toolbar built in so whatever you're doing- word, excell, etc- there's a toolbar where you can just pop something in and go. I don't think it will block the usage of google or yahoo, it just makes their search more in your face and available. I wouldn't sell any stocks yet, but I wouldn't invest into any search engines either until this is tested to see if it can hold water.:2 cents:

Doesn't that "butterfly" software do that now? MSN is looking stronger in my logs as a SE option. Sort of crazy they did not do this before.

it's file search dude
:helpme |
I have been reading about it for awhile now and it was only a matter of time before M$ did something like this to get rid of the competition.
I just wonder if they will get sued for this after they are allowed to release it. |

If the search engine is not better than Google then people will continue to use Google. If a newbie doesn't know about Google they are probably already using MSN as their start page or the built-in IE search which by default is set to MSN.

People who work in technology always forget that the largest consumers are every day joes who just wanna surf for porn, cars, recipes, whatever. They don't care about Microsoft, google, linux etc. They don't know or care that everyone uses IE. Hell, to most people IE *IS* the Internet. They don't call it "Internet Explorer" they just refer to it as "The Internet". |
