You can get a dell that cheap after rebates if they still have their sell going on.

Look for something refurbished maybe? Thats how I got my IBM laptop..

Some corporation had it for like a year, and then I got it dirt cheap from the refurbishers.

.. and came with a 2 year warranty.

i got my emachines for about $1k after rebates and coupons and shit

great machine too, i have had it apart and it is all brand name shit, not cheap generic shit like most dells and gateways

check best buy, i know they usually have a $100 rebate, plus you can join their rewards zone and get like $60 or so in best buy gift certificates

good advice guys thanks. I'll look into these options.

are you looking for a laptop to replace your desktop? or one for mobile purposses?

chowda 08-01-2004 10:55 PM

bdjuf has a nice laptop :D

Emachines may be Gateway now, but as far as I know, their factories and customer support are still seperate...

I've had plenty of laptops, and my new emachines is still the best one out of it... AMD 64bit processor, 1.25 gigs ram, etc. etc.

Clocks and benchmarks faster than most p4 3.2's...

Thats one thing I agree on with Jace

i think they still produce their product seperately though....

i don't call gateway when I need tech support, i call emachines

it seems as though gateway just bought them....which happens all the time...
