If You Think The Republicans Are Manipulating The Public With Terrorist Threats.....
you are now a looney toon conspiracy theory wackjob. Bush and the Republicans simply couldn't pull something like this off, there are Democrats and independents who are no fans in every agency that is involved in this. to exaggerate the threat to the media and public, that is possible.
Nixon's White House couldn't even contain some pretty petty dirty political shenanigans - what many today are accusing Bush of is beyond the pale of reason. |

not just possible. i watch it happen every day. |
i know but that is a long way from what i've been hearing people online and offline saying about today's events.
more and more people want to believe in very evil conspiracies - and the Internet has alot to do with this. you can't go far on the Internet without reading somebody's conspiracy theory filled with half truths and 'theories'. the more and more people read this stuff the more they believe these evil doings are possible. |
the world has turned into a rather turbulant place as of late. and i can understand their fears. but while some people take it to extremes, i feel that it is a legitimate concern to examine everything that our government tells us.

The mass media need a constant flow of information to supply their daily news demands. In an industrialized economy where consumers demand information about multiple global events, this task can only be filled by the corporate sector, which has the necessary material resources. This includes mainly The Pentagon and other governmental bodies. A "symbiotic relationship" thus arises between the media and parts of government, sustained by economic necessity and reciprocity of interest.

There is going to be another attack. It's just a matter of time.
If there is an attack now it is not good for the shrub. Better to stall the attack until closer to the elections. Then the people will "rally" around the president. People will feel that you can't change horses in mid-stream and shrub will win the election. There is information that is over 60 years old that is classified TOP SECRET because unclassifing it would reveal "sources and methods". So now Tom Ridge comes out and gives extremely detailed details about what the terrorists reported in their surveillance. This will alert them that their communications are compromised and they will delay the attack and regroup for another attack. Just in time for the election. I got a crystal ball and it's a slam dunk. |

Of course it's possible and happens every single day. There's a difference between a whackjob and just being naive. |

So maybe the don't make it up. They can still time the announcements in ways that helps their campaign, design the announcements to create fear, and highlight the details that work the best for them. That's all without any lies. Who knows what they can do if they decide to lie a little.

They are manipulating the public through fear. Just listen to the things that the administration and its officials say, it's blatantly obvious that they are trying to keep us in a box of fear.
Plus, check this out. http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/science...eut/index.html They may not be fabricating terrorist threats in order to perpetuate the climate of fear, but they sure as hell take advantage of them. |

not long ago 70% of the US public thought Saddam Hussein was responsible for 9/11. The admin were constantly mentioning Al-Qaeda/Hussein/terrorism in the same soundbite. It's not complicated stuff.

Back in May there was talk going around about how the Bushies were pressuring Pakistan to produce a High Value Target during the Democratic Convetntion.
Well what do you know... Pakistani forces captured Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani, a Tanzanian Al Qaeda operative wanted in connection with the 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. Although the capture took place on Sunday the announcement was made on Wednesday just hours before John Kerry's speech. Of course, his administration would never manipulate things for their own gain. :1orglaugh |
