For Search Engine Traffic

do you submit to the search engine submit pages or link from one of your pages that gets spidered often. just wondering what is better i have heard different things regarding this.

Submit to the engines every other month and link to pages that gets spidered often that way your page is always getting hit.
Will also let you test more.

I always thought that, once the page is spidered you never need to submit it again...

I let the bots find my sites on their own. I haven't submitted to an engine in months now.
