When does your "summer slowdown" stop?

Never really seen one. Then again I never goofed off in the summer.

I am a huge fan of this summer slowdown thing. But I just had my best month ever.

No slow down here.

There is no summer slowdown if you are on top of your game... But like everything else if things are slowing down it's probably your fault and you have to adjust to the new trends...

Me too. But that isn't the point. There are always people talking about summer slowdown. I'm asking those people, when do your sales start picking back-up?

well I'm not making a killing yet, but this was the best month I've had since I started adult. I will say March and April really sucked ass for me, I was really getting discouraged.

Yeah it's just a 'newbi' myth that happens only in adult.

It NEVER *sarcasm mode on* happens to mainstream net businesses or brick and mortar businesses ever except to "newbies" in those areas as well. *sarcasm mode off*

I think its something that makes sense, but it depends on your audience. Sometimes I've had one, sometimes not, though, so I never really decided either way. This summer has been good.

around September, mid way through the month

my conversions for teen and amateur niche are better on summer evenings, as goes my theory that people are hornier in the summer, and drink more = credit card.

The begining of this month, was fucking awesome, but the past week or so, traffic has been way up, but sales have been way down. It'll get better though, always does :)

Yesterday.. because I just finished getting my new site designed, and its time to kick all my tgp's into high gear. :thumbsup

As someone has already pointed out it depends upon your audience.

June my biz dropped quite a bit...I do mainly design work. It was running hard until June...everyone hibernated for about a month...right now July was really strong, August is looking even stronger..people are trying to get ready for Internext and Fall.

As an Ebay seller biz dropped during the summer, started to pick up right around school and pretty much was strong through Thanksgiving.
I would have last minute shoppers up until Christmas but biz would drop off for about 2 weeks in January and then pick up speed again all the way through Spring.

In the carpet biz my father would experience strong sales all through summer up until Fall...but people spend money on gifts so biz would drop from November to February and then pick up as Spring approached...getting the point yet?

If you think there is no summer slow down for different groups of people and if you think that just because you are experiencing some success that there is no summer slowdown then I'm sorry to say you are naive.

Have you noticed how many designers are running summer specials?

Now ask yourself why?

It's because not as many people are spending money...I wonder why that is?

And I'm not talking about new designers coming on the market, I'm talking about people who are usually booked up.

eros is right. There are trends in hosting sales as well.

But my question was mainly intended for porn sales. Not content, but surfers buying access to sites.

Well I would think there are definitely slow downs in surfer sales too...that's why you're experiencing these trends...it's a domino effect.

If a webmaster is not making as much money he's spending less on hosting, content, design etc.

However this is not to say that I don't think some sponsors take advantage of this...I think some turn up the shave and us the ol' It's summer excuse.

july always sucks for me but other than that i don't notice much of a slowdown.

mainstream sites and communitys are most hit by the summer slowdown phenomenom

generally when the weather starts to stop being so perfect for going out in is the end of the slowdown , from two of mainstream sites over the past two years it usually runs from may to mid september

Overall I made more in July than I did in June...but personally I have to work harder to make the same amount in the summer. So maybe that is the thing...some are making just as much if not more than the winter, but they are working harder, learning more, getting better at what they do so the $$'s are there.

to my surprise July ended up about 37% from June and is clearly my best month in adult since 1996.. to bad it's August now (atleast in Norway) :(

Well considering this is GFY, I assumed we were talking about the adult biz and not the full spectrum of industries across the economy. Obviously some businesses suffer in the summer while others do well (eg. ice cream vendors like Baskin Robbins).... so it sounds like you dont have a summer slowdown either since July/August are looking good. I still think summer slowdown as it refers to selling memberships to paysites is a newbie myth. :2 cents:

but couldnt be the weather, ive been working ten times harder this week :)

What summer slow down? I am having the best summer ever. I think that shit is just a rumour!
